Default tire feathering facts

hi,

as a potential z buyer (eventually) i've been sort of keeping an eye on the feathering issue and have searched a little bit in this forum for info about it. but i still have a lot of unanswered questions about it and i thought it would be nice if we could nail down, in one thread, some facts about this issue. listed below are some questions i have related to this issue. thanks in advance for any responses.

1.) what causes feathering? i would be interested to hear a pseudo-technical explanation from some of the experts or knowledgeable forum members here. and also an explanation/theory about why some cars have this problem and some don't.

2.) what is a possible fix for this problem? is there anyone here with enough expertise to propose a fix with any degree of certainty that it would resolve the issue?

3.) do jdm 350Zs have this problem. if not, how are japanese and US Zs different? and what about european Zs.

4.) does the usdm g35 coupe have feathering problems? if not, any theories about which mechanical differences between the two models might account for the presence of this problem in the z only.

If you do a search you'll see there has been a lot of discussion.

1) No one is sure what causes feathering on the Z, but it seems to happen to a large percentage of owners, including even the latest cars.

2) There is no fix at the moment, and it doesn't look like Nissan is going to offer one. Owners may have to get aftermarket products to solve the problem.

3) Not sure about the JDM cars. Sorry.

4) Most G35 owners have not had a feathering problem, but some have mentioned it occurring very late into the life of their stock michelins. I don't think anyone knows why the problem doesn't happen on the G35 - it may be the soft shock and spring tuning.

One question:

How many miles did you put on your Z since making these changes?

from what i understand aftermarket suspension setups such as nismo s tune, tein (basic or any other coilovers), hks, basically any aftermarket suspension upgrades.
some from performance nissan once posted that after suspension upgrades no customers have experienced tire feathering. not sure if someone from performance can confirm this.

Do you by chance notice if the F1's are overall quieter than the bridgestones that came with the car? I just got my track a week ago and it's freaking loud as hell on most highways!

Thanks man.

umm actually with the f1's, i felt alot more of the road.. but of course they are significantly wider, so i cant really state that for a fact..

i have about 5-6k miles on these with zero signs of feathering.. fingers still crossed.. i was reluctant to shell out 1000$ for tires but this may be the only solution
