2003 350Z, Manual no reverse, Grinding
We bought a well abused 2003 350Z this week. All forward gears work well, no grinding between shifts but it will not go into reverse.
Pushing down and holding to the right will make it grind, but will not go into reverse. With the motor off it will not go into reverse.
We started with the shifter adjustment plate and linkage. We replaced orings in the shifter bushing and added tight fitting washers. This did help prevent flexing at the bushing but did not fix the problem. The roll pin on the other end of the linkage by the ujoint is in good condition and is tight.
Before pulling the trans out do you have any other external trouble shooting recommendations?
Is the reverse shift fork easily visible after we drop the trans and remove the inspection cover?
