Overheating issue
it all started about a week ago; i was driving home and my radiator sprung a leak. i've replaced my radiator since then but it is till over heating.
I tried pouring coolant straight into the engine through the upper radiator hose and running it after and it stayed pretty cool up until about 5 miles down the road and it started to over heat.
I have also tried to leave the radiator cap off while the engine cools to see if any air bubbles within the system work themselves out, but still overheats.
My next thought is the thermostat got stuck together from when my car over heated the first time, and thats probably what i'll end up changing within the next couple days. Another reason I believe it could be this is because its throwing a p1217 code, but any recommendations or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

The thermostat being stuck is possible. And its never a bad idea to swap in a new thermostat.
But its also very possible that the coolant system just isn't bled completely from when you changed the radiator. I strongly suggest investing in a Hirsch funnel regardless of whether you decide to replace the t-stat or not

If you're running with air in the lines, you're not getting coolant flow. It's going to overheat and you risk warping your heads as a result. Take it to a shop to get the air bled properly if you're not equipped to do it.
so after all this time i finally figured it out. I ended up changing the thermostat and it was still over heating. I took it to a shop to get it burped but still had no success. so I said what the hell and just changed the thermostat again, and it ended up working. Just my luck to get a new thermostat that didn't work. But thanks for the help everyone!
