Default No start 2006 g35 coupe AT

Purchased the car (2006 g35 coupe with auto trans) a few days ago for cheap, car will not start, or crank, it has power. Previous owner states he had it diagnosed by a mechanic and the TCM, (transmission control module) needs to be replaced due to some type of kill switch someone had wired into the system which fried it, which is causing the car not to start. I was told the mechanic removed the switch. I checked the fuse for the TCM and it is fine, also checked all other fuses. symptoms are that that there is no gear indicator on the dash, as i shift through the (P-R-N-D) there is no gear displayed on the dash. I did not want to replace the TCM unless that is the probable issue, and i did not think the TCM would affect the display of gears on the dash, but possibly a bad sensor on the trans, any ideas?

Good luck with that. Most Nissan techs won't just replace the TCM since it's part of the tranny. They'll try and sell you a refurbished one or a completely "new" one. Going through this same situation right now [05 5AT].

I have no issue replacing it myself. I would just like to see if anyone has had this issue, and what their solution or recommended solution is before i go purchasing parts.

When my shop told me they had to replace the entire thing rather then just switch out the TCM I started watching everything I could find about it online. This guy seemed pretty informative, but others who've actually done it may have better info...
