Default Crankshaft position sensor open gap?

Hi! I have a 2008 350z vq35hr, I just changed my crankshaft position sensor but the old one was very dirty and when I installed the new one I noticed that the sensor doesnt even like pushed inside the hole its just in there because of the screw, I wanted to know if I’m missing a part where the sensor should clip in or the sensor goes like that? It still have like a hole open to the elements which makes sense to why the old one was so dirty which doesnt seem right.

This is without the sensor

This is with the sensor in and you can see that it still have an open gap which doesnt seem right

if someone knows I would really appreciate it!

I would be more concerned that you didn't use a DENSO sensor

My brother has a parts store, I just grab a sensor to see if it fixed a issue I’m having, if it fixed it I would then change it for a oem one.
