Default Air bag and service light is on...?

I recently installed a stereo system into my Z. While installing my sound system, i disconected the negative and positive terminals of the battery. I replaced the 8 ga. ground wire with a 4 ga. one and replaced both terminals with platnum plated units. I also changed out the battery with a yellow top Optima high output unit. After installing everything and starting up the car, i noticed that my air bag like and service lights are now on and wont go away. I've been driving the car for the last three days now and it drives normally. I went to the dealership and spoke to one of their techs. about it and he just looked confused that he's done lots of battery changes in cars before with no problems. He said he never actully changed a battery in a 350Z before so he said that he'd have to charge my $80.00 to hook it up to their machine to see what is wrong. Does any of this ring any bells for any of you? If so, let me know what i should do. I have an appointment with my dealership for Tuesday. Any info. will be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

Problems been fixed. For anyone reading this, don't start your car up if you ever disconect your air bag harness under your seat like when you take it out. This will prompt an eror code to your cars computer telling it that one of your airbags is faulty. All in all, it was a easy fix.

The tech's said that they went and shot a code back into the computer reseting the air bags. Now everything is ok. It didn't even take them 20 mins. to do. Cost me 80.00 bucks. Oh well, live and let learn.

Crap. That sucks. I tried resetting it with a generic ODBII scanner and the damn thing did not work. Did not realize you needed to inject a code into the ECU.

Just to recap the solution that was posted the other day (it worked ...)

1) Put the key into the ignition and wait until the airbag light starts to flash ....

2) Turn the ignition off ... wait ten seconds (use a stopwatch) and repeat step 1. Do this four times. Light should turn off.

I am pretty sure that the method I described is only for the airbag warning light. I had already reset the SES light with a generic scanner beforehand. I would say do a search, since there was a method posted a while back to do it, but it's broken...

thanks monkeyboy!
I just had my burnt orange leather seat covers installed and the airbag light was on tried to reset the ECU by removing the NEG battery terminal overnight but that did not work. Did what you said and it worked like a charm!
whoever is trying this make sure you pull the key out of the ignition completly out and wait the 10 sec

Thank you, I accidentally unplugged that wire under the seat and the Check Air Bag light came on, this saved me.

where do u have to turn the key to each time? do i ignite the car all teh way or just so that the lights come on? ex. the on position right before ignition or the acc position where the radio comes on
thanks

start with sliding the key in the ignition. That's where you want to finish when you turn off.

you have to turn the key all the way until all the lights light up. Don't ignite engine.

when the air bag light starts to blink, turn key all the way back to off postion. The postion where you slid the key in. Don't take out key either.

do this four times and the fifth time you turn the key to the on postion, the air bag light will stay off instead of blink.
