Would you update if this legal action will help someone like me in the midwest? I've had my tires replaced at 4500 miles, that is only 500 miles ago so I have no idea if it will reoccur? Based on everything I have read on this subject not many members have had permenant correction of this problem from the realignment and new tires so I am not to hopeful.

Since you last posted, Nissan (as I'm sure you know by now) has released a new position on the tire feathering issue. They have increased the warranty for this from 12 to 24 months and have acknowledged the problem. They have also said that after the tire swap, if (when) the feathering returns, they will replace the tires up to 20k miles for free and will prorate them after 20K miles up to 30k.

Does this latest action by Nissan effect your class action suit in any way?

I HOPE NOT!

My car was in the shop a 2X and a total of 5 days for my second feathering visit alone(first @ 5000, now @ 11000). I won't even get into what happened the first time!!! It was months before everything that happened was resolved.

4 OF THE DAYS was AFTER opening a case with Nissan and after Nissan contacted the dealer with the solution. I dropped the car off and guess what Nissans solution was.......cross rotate the front tires, and that's all. ..?????

I was the one who finally showed them the latest TSB, after 4 days in the shop of them trying to do as little as possible.

Guess what?.. After all my visits and trouble, they didn't even replace my tires... I'm lucky I got the car aligned.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

The latest BULL**** extension of the warr for our tires has ZERO Affect on the class action......

IT Actually HELps us tremendously!!! By them doing that , they are basically acknowledging thatthere is a major defect with this car!!!! and the cact that they have known about it for 2+ years!!!

So Everyone, Were all intelligent here.,,,It's obvious this is much cheaper for NNA to do then fixx the problem, and many will not persue it like we do here....to nissan it's all a #'s game!! And this is the least expensive to them

>>>I have all the documents at home for teh law suit, it some heavy duty stuff that were going after nissan for!! I apologize for not posting on Sunday, I had no time.... I should have it all up Tonight, there is alot to transfer(ie, the complaint against Nissan is 30 pages long!!!!!!!!!) SO everyone keep Tuned in!!!!!!!!!!! I love MY Z, BUT it's a LEMON!

In December of '03 the touring team of Nissan engineers looked at my vehicle, judged the alingment to be correct and put on new tires.

Now, at aproximately 2500 miles I am experiencing the same wear characteristics with the OUTER tread bar.

What info from my experience (if any) would find usefull in this quest??

has there been any talk about starting a case agains nissan for the tranny problems? Since so many people have had numerous replacements, you'd think there'd be enough evidence and it seems to be enough of a widespread problem to warrant a recall or something. Only major problem is, it's much harder to get recalls for things not safety or environmentally related.

I sold my Z last month but I also had the tire feather issue with no tire replacement or help from Nissan or Dealer. I would also want to be a part of this case. I'm in California.

"haven't any of you guys gotten the TSB on the suspension thing?"

What do you mean by "gotten it"? Something in the mail you mean? I think they were going to send it out mid to end of May.

Okay ... I am one of the original victims of Nissan. Bought my car in Nov 2002 when Bonz and the rest did. I have had all of the BS alignments and at approx 12700 miles I had the tires replaced. I tried to explain to the techs, managers etc that my car was feathering on the outside and they told me that I am wrong and that this was impossible. I now have 14500 miles on the new tires and the tires are showing signs (by feel) of feathering again. Yes on the outside. Just called the Nissan dealer again and have an appointment tomorrow to see if it is out of alignment though he stated that it looks like all the newest alignments have been made. I have told him if nothing changes tomorrow I am starting the procedure to have the car lemon lawed.

Count me in also.
I brought my car 9/18/02, and have taken my car to the dealer several times about feathering. They first gave me the tire swap, and the bs rotation. A few thousand miles later it came back. Then the techs told me, all sports cars does this. Of course I do not buy it, and i am sick of hearing like my car is on a railroad track.
I hope this tsb extense pass 21k, for those who bought there cars in aug and sept.. Because I put about 1000 miles on the z a month, and that means i would be in this prorated crap, considering, i have complained several times to the dealer.

I'm in. Nissan is not owning up to this problem.

I suspect there is a front suspension design problem that is not only causing this abnormal tire wear but a drumming vibration that is felt from the front end above 50 mph. At first, I thought the front feathered tires causing the vibration. But, with recently replaced set of tires, the vibration is still present.

Well, nissan gave me two new front tires, and a alignment. I doubt if this will fix the problem. I forgot what it sounded like to ride in quite car. I didn't actually have to turn my radio up to level 20 to hear the words.

Took the car in at 5600 miles to have the tread checked, wear was bad enough that they are ordering tires.

They will not refer to it as feathering on the paperwork and I didnt feel like irritating them to the point of getting banned from the dealership over it.
