Default Driver's Seat Shifts During Corners

I'm sure that this topic has been brought up before, but would like to point out that the search function is down right now.

When I take a corner the driver's seat actually shifts, not just creaks. I took the car to the dealer to fix this problem and they stated that they looked at a brand new Z and there was some play in that seat as well and did not fix the problem. Well my Z is basically brand new (2 months / 2000 miles) and the seat shifting on me is really starting to get annoying. I would like to point out that the seat isn't shifting because i'm taking corners extremely hard, but it shifts when I take corners at low speeds.

Can anybody help me please?

I would have told them: "then you have two 350Zs to fix". If the seat is properly anchored it should not move, mine doesn't.

There is a TSB for this. Its a pretty simple fix but requires some parts. I had it fixed last summer. They should be able to find the TSB easy enough.

If SEARCH ever works again, I posted the TSB around the time that I had the work done. There are also link to ALL of the TSB's but I don't have them handy, sorry.

It's TSB NTB03076 , "2003 350Z; Driver's Seat Click Noise / Side to Side Movement When Turning"

IF YOU CONFIRM: When tuning left or right, · The driver's seat makes a "click" noise, and/or · The driver's seat moves side to side (left or right), ACTION: · Install special washers between the seat thigh support adjuster and the sliding and reclining device-inner and outer (see Figure 1). See this bulletin for further detail.

Default Thanks

Jim,

So should I just take the Z in to the dealer again and say look up TSB NTB03076 and follow the instructions?

Thanks.

Yes! Or you can do what I do which is to print out a copy of the TSB and bring it in with you! I believe they are all on the Nissan web site. (again if search worked I would get you a link).

Since it requires parts, you will need to make a trip first to get them to order the parts and then return to have the work done after the parts arrive (uggh).

I had this TSB performed last week at my dealership. They mentioned using some neoprene(sp?) bushings which quelled the seat squeeking during cornering. Good riddance to that noise.

Now to handle all the others....

I had to complain plenty of times and they also told me some BS about the seat being on rails and it was going to move and that they have never had heard anybody else with that problem. Finally they ordered a whole new seat bottom or something and problem has gone away so that one down and 10 to go.

I also had a load of BS from the dealer

1. "They all do that"
2. "The TSB won't help"
3. "your seat does not move in any case"

I got a print out of the TSB from elsewhere on this site (sorry, can't remember where, and search is not working at the moment), and did it myself.

Cost: under a buck for a bag of washers, and about an hour. It was dead easy, and the seat has not moved since.

If you do try it, I suggest you cover the sill of the car with a blanket to stop the bottom of the seat causing scratches as you take it out the car.
