Unhappy Foot Rest

Has anyone noticed the foot rest getting loose? I've had mine replaced twice and it looks like the "bolts" are made of plastic.

Yes, mine is loose also. I have seen a thread before about this. Not a big issue...

I find the foot rest to be too far away for comfort in comparison to the gas pedal. Is this adjustable?

Those are not the bolts that are holding the footrest to the floor. We all have those metal screws, they simply hold the aluminum plate to the plastic foot rest.

There are plastic one-way slip nuts on the back of the foot rest that wear out and come loose allowing the entire plastic foot rest to come loose and fall off.

If you take those screws out and the (2) on top as well as the one in the middle the aluminum plate will come off. Underneath you will see the (2) plastic "crap-o-la" screws that attache to real screws that come out of the body. It is a ~$20 part but is clearly cheep. My is lose on top.

So you guys are saying that underneath the metal plate are two plastic bolts holding the foot rest assembly? Is your foot rest coming loose because the plastic bolts are breaking? losing thread? or just coming lose?

Yes, pretty much. Under the metal plate are two plastic things that are supposed to clamp onto the screws sticking out from the body of the car. It seems that the plastic "crap-o-la" things get stripped pretty easily and can no longer hold onto the screw.

Yes mine were completely stripped. This happened after the fat repair manager was in my car. It looked like he put all his weight on the one foot as he got in and out of the car and the poor dead pedal was history.
