Default My Z Sucks!

welp.... lemme make a list

My two front security lights rattle llike a mother****er
my seat squeaks
my brakes squeel
my strut brace rattles under hard acceleration
my footrest pedal fell off today
my bumper chips like a mother****er
my headlights filmed up
the shifter gets hot as ****
now my little lid where the navi would be doesnt open
my rearview mirror rattles
my gas lid doesnt open
the dealer ran my bumper into a curb

this car is not worth the 30k i bought it for.. shouldve kept my 96 maxima.. had the same problems but alot less expensive. It seems to me like they really cut some corners on the Z when it comes to build quality. The car is fast as hell and handles great. I love the way it looks too... but they went el cheapo on everything else and I'm seriously dissapointed.

Totally agree. I will NEVER buy another Nissan product again!
This is my 10th new car since I started driving - and the most problematic car I've ever owned! And this includes my '97 Trans Am convertible, which was I expected to be an unreliable piece of G.M. crap, but I still own it because it's a great car and never given me any trouble....and to think, I bought the Z to be my reliable daily driver..... :-(

Well, I agree, it is a hot-looking car, and it accellerates and handles very well for such a low price! BUT - since I already have another V8 "pet" car and two fullsize trucks, the Z was supposed to be the reliable daily beater, figuring it would be a cheap, fun, bombproof car, and I am disappointed.

When I drive the Z, all I can think of is, "What will go wrong next? When can I schedule time for another trip to the dealer to fix what they didn't fix last time?" - That is, if I CAN think, over the noise those damned tires generate!!!

Hard to believe I own a car that will need new tires every year, I drive like an old lady (wait! I AM an old lady!). :-)

I've been looking for this thread. My '03 Enth sucks. Here's why:

* Rattles: rearview mirror (on my third mirror and there's still noise), dash, door
* Hums: the fuel pump in the hatch area make a noise whenever it feels like it
* Fuel fill-up: Same problem as everyone else. I can only get 15-16 gallons in. Dealer is replacing gauges but I have a feeling that's not it.
* Tires: After 3 visits, finally replacing my front tires and doing alignment. I will not miss the noise.
* Transmission: 1->2 = CRUNCH!
* The Ride: unless you are on that new stretch of freeway, it really is embarrassingly uncomfortable.
* Rear Squeak: loose bumper--fixed. Hooray!
* Braking: the gradual to hard braking requires approx. 2,000lbs. of pressure on the brake pedal. Pay attention, do leg exercises or be prepared to rearend somebody.
* Sh*tty stereo: my loaner Dodge Neon's base system was *kickin'* compared to our stock POS system.
* The Overall Utility: The rear tie-bar has got to be the worst idea ever. For a what seems like a 1% handling improvement, your passenger now has the pleasure of carrying whatever luggage they have, on their lap.

Am I forgetting something? I hating this f*ckin' car. It's just not worth it. The bad news is that many people feel this way too so resale is a *****. Never again will I buy a year 1 model, or a Nissan.

Comments? I'd love to hear from you.

-Sam

Well.. I still like my Z even though I have all these problems. I just wish I would have gotten my moneys worth with the car. Rattles, road noise, pedals falling off, creaking.... it wears on you quick when you drop over 30k on a new car.

My new Mach1 has some squeaks here and there too. Brakes and audio are pretty good though.

Why do all new cars have SUCKY PAINT now though!? My paint is aweful, much like the Z's.

Auto makers sure are going down hill these days. I guess it's time to buy a bimmer.

yeah i think nissan went a littel cheapo on this model Z. my 1993 300zxtt was much nicer overall and more solidly built. i guess the price difference shows.

I agree with all of you. I will never buy another nissan. I owned a 93 convertible Z that was an awesome car. Much nicer overall, and much better built. This 04 roadster is a turd.

The tranny and suspension are a joke. I traded an 01 convert GT Mustang (that I never had a single problem with) for this "superior" built import. HAH!

I wish I could park it somewhere and an 18 wheeler roll over it.

I feel for all of you dont want to list my problems (too many). I also have a law suit with nissan cant wait to get my money back. This sucks because I really want to get a 07 Skyline GTR when it come to US,but forget it unless nissan gets there head out if there ***. It would be good if at least service was good but Nissan service suck too. I have a big stack of work orders, would like to actually drive my Z into Nissan HQ. It especially sucks for us hardcore import lovers

I agree with you all about the problems. I love my 350Z (I've taken out C5's and a new Carrera4 with it) but the problems and service are making me seriously consider trading it in on something else. The main problem is there are no other cars in my price range that I like, that's why I got the Z in the first place.

I had my tranny replaced and the feathering issue fixed ~9k mi ago. The feathering has since come back and the tranny is grinding in 5th again and AFAIK I have the latest tranny 008. On top of that, the axles are clicking and the windows are creaking since I had the grease streaks fixed. I was hoping to avoid all of these stupid problems by buying a new car. Hell, my POS sunfire that I had for 7yrs didn't have half this many problems during that time.

I have one of the first 03s...and although I have few miles, I haven't had any tranny problems (knock on wood). I do have the feathering, but I can afford the front tires and would probably tear through them in 10k anyway (and I'm almost at 6k). Plus I don't think the feathering would be as bad with quieter tires to begin with. Other than window streaks (which do not bother me enough to let the dealer hack my doors apart), I haven't had any other problems.

My dealer (SW Baker Jackson in Houston) has so far been great - I have zero complaints w/them.

I'm sorry you guys have such bad luck, but if you feel that way please get rid of the car. It's not worth being unhappy. I adore my Z, and it has so far treated me well. I just had to stand up and say that some of us ARE happy w/the car.

04 Touring - no problems

handles well, no tire feathering, good paint (cept for the chips from bugs and hitting that bird), good bose stereo (i am upgrading speakers though).

i am very happy overall, and i am sorry that you guys are having a crappy time. i havn't even had to go to the dealer for anything. no creaks or rattles, no buttons falling off, no grease in the window.

well i am new to the board and i guess my opinion wont matter much but what the hell here is my .02

its a sports car, if u bought a 30k sports car and are concerned about "road noise" and "rattles" then i dont think this is the car for you. if u wanted a nice, solid, noise free daily driver...the Z or any sports car for that matter just doesnt seems like a smart choice

interior quality on any sub 50k sports car seems to always be the one place that designers mess up on. for example the chevrolet corvette...

i dont know anout you but these were things i was expecting to see happen. rattles and road noise just dont bother me, as long as the car handles well and acclerates great then i am happy. like i said i just expect sports cars to focus on preformace and if the have a sub-par interior then so what...

as long as it handles and drives like a 30k sports car then i am happy

now the tranny and feathering of the tires is a diffrent story...i would not expect these to be problems.
