Question Has anyone fixed thier tranny??

I am having the grinding when shifting to third at high RPM (6MT). The dealer wouldn't do it under the warranty, coz my car is a North American spec and wasn't purchased from a Middle East dealer
So, I have to fix that with my own money The dealer stated that the problem was with the synchro.
Please, I need your help guys.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that you can take your car to a different country and get warranty service. Call Nissan North America. Or Nissan Middle East??

My car is in Bahrain (Nissan Middle East). The agent says that North American warranty is not covered here!
My car is a North American spec and imported from thr Canada!

I am having a fight at the dealer and need all the back-up from you guys to solve this!
Thanks

The 3rd gear sychro is $45 for transmissions with a vin # dated pre 02/03 or $90 for transmissions dated 02/03 and later. The labor cost for this should be around $250 at an independent transmission shop.

Just have your Transmission Shop contact Nissan Parts and be sure to check out the age of the transmission by using the vin #. The newer transmissions use a brass syncro but it can't be used on the older models because they are using a different 3rd gear assembly on the new transmissions.

Isn't there a modified synchro that I can use to avoid such a problem in the future?

Dealer said that Nissan North America refused to do it under warranty!!
Told them to do it in writing so I can deal with it my own way.

This really suck

Hi Bahraini,

Sorry to interfere (since I am not a Z owner), but I am thinking of buying one, which is why I read a good portion of the posts in this site and to me it seems that these are the latest part numbers for:
- transmission - 32010 - CD008
- clutch pedal - 46503 - CD011
-clutch disc - 30100 - CD020

To verify this information, check out this thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&pagenumber=20
it's 20 pages long (I read them all :-)).

Regards,
Tz from Bulgaria (Eastern Europe)

Good luck with the warranty issue!!!

well you need to go to a different dealership and get a rep who is willing to pull some strings for you. hell they still get money in their pocket for it! i had to have mine replaced and i told him about a grind in third, he got me a free tranny and clutch!!!! (car was used with 7200 and guy had destroyed the clutch, dunno how)
