Default Nissan is slow at issuing TSB

The clutch engagement is an issue that Nsan needs to step up and fix. The latest that I have heard is that if the clutch engages anywhere on the pedal travel, it's OK. That's BS Nissan, this a great car, why should those who are irrated by clutch issue be blowed-off ?

BAD GRIND 2nd-3rd on powershifting (quick shifts)
Sometimes happens when car is cold - sometimes not.

One instance scared the **** out of me!

Driving pretty agressively I pushed it in first and floored it, pulled down to second and hit it again. The tranny popped out of second with a HUGE *BAM*. I thought someone had actually hit me from behind - it was extremely loud.

After this instance and the continuious popping out of gear I'm going to definitely get my tranny fixed. I am scared that after that event and the 20+ times I've ground gears something is definitely damaged.

seems that many of these cars are VERY early editions??

My VIN is 9xxx and I have a finnicky 2nd gear synchro, mostly when cold. I also have a pretty noticeable clutch release bearing chatter. I'll get it looked at when I go in at 1200 miles. (I have 650 on it now)

My VIN is 13XX (not because I care, I just can not remember) and I have an awful proplem shifting from second to third when the car is cold or if it is at high RPMs. If there is a fix, I am interested.

Vin# 235, absolutely no problems through 8,500 miles. Sounds like some of these people have legitimate problems, and some just aren't good at driving a stick.

My VIN# is 90XX. Major clutch bearing chatter. Occasional grinding but not too evident. Major tranny leak. Waiting for my new tranny and drive shaft to get here. At this point, the dealership can not tell me when that is. It's been almost 2 weeks and I am getting really pissed. Current milage is ~ 900.

vin xx4498. No problems with MT (or anything else other than the seat movement)

Why should one be concerned about posting vin?

Default No tranny problems...yet

Vin 725.....Isn't there two different plants in Japan making the Z? Wonder if that has something to do with it.

I picked up my Z 8-31-02. Tranny was very tight for the first 600 miles or so then loosened up. To date I have about 6400 miles and have not had any problems.

I have found the shifting to be very consistent both when it is cold (like 20F) and hot (98F). I do shift near redline often and can't seem to break it yet.

Keep my fingers crossed I guess. My clutch does seem to take up somewhat low to the floor. I would say 1/4 the way off the floor it starts to grab, then about 1/3 to 1/2 way up it is fully engaged.

The logic in this thread is that the lower VINs imply earlier production dates. If problems were experienced with early cars, they may have been resolved later in the production.

........or, did you mean, "Why are people not stating their whole VIN and using ###? I suppose that, with a complete VIN and some research, someone else could determine their identity, find out where they live, know that they have a Z, etc. Perhaps some people just want to stay anonymous.

Thumbs up

Thanks Wayne. I was wondering why people have been 'shy' about revealing their VINs.

My opinion is that most of you are a bunch of winny biotches that shoud not be driving a sports car in the first place. go back to your Honda accord and shut the F**** up! Either that, or learn to drive a manual transmission.

Was that really necessary?
