Default Fluid Change Help

Hey guys,

When it comes to anything automotive diy I am a bit impaired :/. I know how to change the engine oil and want to learn how to change a few of my other fluids. In particular, transmission and differential fluid. Does anyone have some kinda of tutorial or walkthrough for newbies to learn how to change tranny or diff oil?

very simple. actually just did mine today. the tranny and limited slip have a gold/bronze colored screw loacted on the bottom (tranny) or back (lsd). that screw is to let out the old bad oil. unscrew it a drain till you are satisfied.

then screw those screws back in. now if u look to the right for both u should find another screw similar to that of the previous ones u unscrewed. unscrew them. get a pump to pump the fluid into the diff and tranny. once u begin to see the oil comin gout of that hole stop pumping the oil in. let it stop and screw the screw back on. clean up, your done.

rear diff takes 2 quartes and tranny takes three quartes.

hope this helps.

fluids i replaced:
Tranny- Royal Purple 10w-40 ( nissan spec equivilant)
Motor- Royal Purple 20w-50
Diff- Royal Purple 75w-90 Long Ride Gear Lube
Coolant- Nissan Genuwine Coolant w/ Royal Purple's Purple ICE additive
Power Steering- Royal Purple
Clutch and Brake Fluids next weekend.

Those are good instructions that Losing Grip II posted. I might add that you should also crack open the fill plug on each a bit before draining the fluid to act as a vent. Also, if memory serves, the plugs require a Torx bit to remove. Good luck!

What is a "torx" bit and where can it be purchased?

This is a very important step- and not just to vent each component- you need to make sure the fill plugs loosen before you drain all the fluids out!!!! Make sure you do this first!!!
