rearview mirror rattle
My rearview mirror rattles when going over rough roads. It is not the plastic piece covering the wire because i did the TSB and when i hold the the mirror itself it stops. Any fix to this? Getting annoying. Thanks
I do believe there is a TSB related to this as well. In my car, I have the same exact thing but I just simply "Squish" the mirror for a sec and the sound goes away for the duration of the ride. Of course it does come back shortly after, but I'm just too lazy to get the mirror replaced and have to reprogram my homelink controls cause I cant find the remote transmitters anymore.

The problem is the casing seems to snap together and the front and back pieces of the plastic casing must have enough of a gap and flex to cause this vibration
I have had it in many times, but the "problem can't be duplicated" by the dealer.... Maybe I will have to go to a different dealer. (or else, maybe some silicone calk or something....)
I have the exact same problem, and one of these days I'll get off my lazy butt and do something about it. Get yourself a small piece of felt.......... cut it into really small pieces. Use a screwdriver to lightly pry the two halves apart underneath the mirror itself. Add a piece of felt. Problem fixed, the felt will stop the two pieces of plastic from vibrating together. Repeat as neccessary with entire dashboard/plastic interior.
What really pisses me off, is that I've owned many vehicles with mostly plastic interiors. Dodge and Chevy put little felt pads EVERYWHERE to prevent interior noise. It costs a total of $.08 @ the factory. I have two brand new Nissans and every square inch rattles/squeaks/creaks/vibrates. After all the money I've spent this year, I am now responsible to remove both interiors and re-install them with little felt buffers. For some reason, it's a widespread problem with Nissan. Everybody I know who has owned a Maxima/Extera/Pathfinder/Murano/Z has the exact same complaint, and it dates back several years. You can complain to the dealer, but if anything gets done, they usually cause more damage than good. (Fix the squeak, but scratch the dashboard). The best bet is to use felt pads as needed/ where needed.
Sorry for rambling, it really gets me upset when I think about it.
