Bet that subject line furrowed some brows! Seriously, I have never liked the exhaust tips on my Z. So...... I changed em' this week.
I dumped the stock muffler (HEAVY/HUGE!!) because I felt it was too "ricer-like" w/the big cans. Of course, the fact that my other car is a 3000GT w/4 exhaust tips (note second pic) may have figured in my decision! I replaced it w/muffler from/for (shudder) a Camaro because of inability to weld these particular tips on stock Z muffler outlet configuration. I am guessing I saved at least 30 lbs. The sound is so Ferrari like now that it is mesmorizing! It comes in @ approx 3600 and just snarls up the scale if pushed. The nice part is that it will only snarl if I call for it, otherwise it sounds like the stock unit. I am very pleased w/setup tho I realize others may not care for it, I think the 4 tips add more exotica and personalization to an already exotic automobile.

Looks nice! Not sure of any potential gains/losses, but nevertheless, I think it looks sharp. Now the big question: Got any sounds files so we can take a listen?

Hmmm, I would love to do so, but I have no idea as to how I might post. In fact, I would like to post a short video as I have seen others, but again, I am a still photographer and am a neophyte when it comes to video/.mpeg construction/posting. I really would like to do so because the sound is unlike any of the other samples I have heard from other Z's so far. Regards, Jim

You did a clean job at installing them, but I personally don't like the look. The pipes are too squared off to fit the lines and overall shaping of the Z. They look like an"after thought" especially since the cut out section is rounded off for the stock round 'cans' as you call them and your quad set up doesn't look flush. If you're going to change it, why not use rounded quads and not the squared off ones?
Just my 2 cents worth.
