Right, they are old. The car now has a Kinetix SSV. The crawford plenum and STB are out.

The car is pristine. I hope he appreciates it.

ok before I get flamed, I'll say it....J/K. Anyways, My friend was 16 when he got his 05 Z back in June.

Yeah...
If they can drive with responsibility...
Thats a bold statement!
16 year olds with 350-400whp rwd racers...
right...
Thats going to be a daily commute from their house to the school thats it?
Not racing oFF the back streets with vettes and camaros?
Riiighttt...
I think there was a post a couple days/maybe a week back about that kid 18 or something crashing into a tree wrecking his Z? and another story about another kid crashing his Z into a guy's wife's car wrecking both cars and sending the kid to the hospital?
Come on! Common Sense!
I know I can handle my Z cuz dont street race and I drive carefully
A major portion of other kids dont...

His parents MUST hate him. They got him that car so he could kill himself.

Thats what I would do if I thought that my child was a mistake Abortion by automobile.

I posted just before without reading all the flames. Here's my 2 cents.

I do become irritated sometimes on this forum when I read posts by young Z drivers who seem to brag about themselves their accomplishments or their cars. They usually post back and forth with flamers never improving their position, only digging a deeper hole and looking more ridiculous all the while. For instance, the kid that races Enzos and GTs and F14s and UFOs, really grates my nerves.

Having said that, the brothers that have Z’s referred to in this post are not that type of kids. I have met them and hung out with them and their father several times at different Z events and SCCA events as well as around town. These guys are quiet respectful young adults. They don’t brag (this post was not started by either of them), they do not try to make excuses for their position (they have not repeatedly posted on this site to fight the generic haters here), and they have not lied to say that they saved for the cars all their lives or said anything to the effect that they deserve 30K + sports cars (for all I know they both make payments on the cars, but they live in a nice neighborhood and I would not be surprised if their parents helped them with the purchase/upkeep of the vehicles.

There of course is still the argument that inexperienced drivers have more accidents, and in general that is true. The brothers probably will have their fair share of bumps and scrapes, but they are also taking track driving lessons and running SCCA events on a regular basis. I believe they will be better drivers at 18 than most of the members of this forum are as adults.

Anyway, I just wanted to speak up for those humble enough to let you all sling this undeserved commentary without a rebuttal.

(By the way, I am not their dad or best school chum. I am 31 and have to make my own car payments just like many of you.)

J's right

responsibility is a big factor in owning a sports car

chances are us younger people dont have as much as you older folks

but there are those people out there who are older and shouldnt be driving or racing ANYTHING cause they cant handle it and dont make intelligent decisions

maturity is learned...some got it some dont....but age does help

since we all have sports cars i hope we all have a good amount of common sense

i mean weve got to? we all picked Z's

note: the guy who hit the tree *chachi and his buddy* i think they were 20 or 21? not 18 but ya the dude whose friends wife got t-boned by that kid...ya he was like 16.....bummer

When I was 16 (just 4 years ago)
I drove around in an Audi A4 Quattro
It was a tank
I'd personally NOT allow myself to get in a 287bhp monster and kill myself...

Andy are you really that jealous? Do you know anything about the guy? You are ignorant to this subject yet you are still posting about it.

I could just as easily pronounce that now that you have a Z, the guys on the other forums are going to say that all z drivers are gay.

See I don’t have proof that you’re gay, but because I don’t care for your remarks I’m just adding ignorance to the forum. Not very helpful is it?

I think some of us are against young drivers with high powered cars...

main reasons are safety for them AND for us, responsibility

AND to prevent them from turning into @$$holes ... a kid running around in a Z will think he is the absolute **** and **** alot of ppl oFF thus creating a bad image for Z drivers

I think it is first and foremost the parents job to teach their children how to act. I know alot of parents no longer take care of this responsibility, and you for one may not have had good parents, but we should still review individuals on a case by case basis. In this particular case I think we are safe that the brothers are not on the fast road to becoming a$$holes.

I'm leaving work now so probably will not post for a while, but it has been fun.
