Not to knock your picture but the white balance was definitely off,it's out of focus, and i see a lot of noise. Keep practicing and learn to use custom settings rather than "auto mode". I respect your attempt however, just keep practicing.

It's not perfect, but it's still a good photo. To reduce the noise before taking the photo, lower your ISO setting, but this will reduce your light input. However, I think the amber coloring adds character to the picture and balances nicely with the black steering wheel. If you can't take an acceptable photo at a lower ISO, you can still remove the noise with an adobe plug-in called noise ninja after you take the picture. Also, if you want the entire "Z" focused, aim for the closest part of the "Z" and then set your F-stop appropriately to ensure the entire Z will be in focus. If your camera has a macro mode make sure it is on. You will have to take multiple shots to see which f-stop will be best.

Don't you hate that. Theres been times when I've gone out for a little night photoshoot and the pictures appear perfect on the cameras lcdl. But when I get home and upload them they are noisy and out of focus. Like what kpiskin said above, take advantage of your memory card and take several pictures of each shot in different iso levels and white balance adjustments. After a while you'll get the hang of it. Even if you don't have an SLR, most point and shoot cameras have manual modes where you can adjust these settings.
