This is the opposite of a rice rocket or rice burner (rice rocket originally applied only to motorcycles) which is a car which has been dressed up to look like it is faster than it really is. Alternately, it can be a powerful version of a car which has been dressed down such that it looks like a slower version of the same vehicle, for example a Ford Mustang GT dressed down to look like the V6 model, or a Chevrolet Camaro Z28, SS, or IROC rebadged as the RS. It can also refer to a car which is a good performer, and mechanically sound, but outside appears as a beater, which is to say too damaged to perform well.
Besides people led by the imp of the perverse, sleepers tend to be driven by men and women who have escaped their twenties who prefer not to be pulled over by the law frequently but still want to drive a fast car. There is a sense of satisfaction in "blowing away" (not literally, nor in the sense of firearms) the person sitting next to you who thinks their car can beat yours because it makes you look like a soccer mom. This is the kind of car where when people talk about it they say things like "that car doesn't look like much but every time it goes by the walls shake."1
A sleeper is quiet when it's "sleeping", since cars don't snore, but you can typically tell the difference when it's started and gives off its roar. Of course, even most modern performance vehicles are not very loud at idle because the average displacement of the modern engine is much lower than what it used to be 20 or 30 years ago"

I still get don't how this worthless thread got into 3 pages long. There's nothing to really look at. I see a lot of other people's threads of various visual mods that hardly been looked at or given the props they deserve. A Z is a sports car and even considering it as a sleeper is ridiculous. So, if you add NOS to a stock looking Viper, would that be considered a "sleeper" as well?

HAHAHAHA, dumbarse...... read farther into the thread and you will see what all has been done to the engine. you know, that metal thing under the hood that makes noise.

hehehe. You guys are too funny. I had a feeling my post would tickle some nerves, but just had to post that to defend some others who haven't been given the same props, although, they did spend the same amount of energy or more in their mods.

The video was what really owned me. I was thinking that the turbo would at least make it even, but nope. It was blown away.
I do give him props for his Z being quick while looking stock, and having outrageous amounts of torque over the HP. And no, I don't go on the internet, thinking people automatically agree with me. I don't care what people think unless Im looking for an opinion, and Im not trying to get people to hate "sleepers". Everyone has their own direction with their cars, and I respect that.

yeah, I know what was going on. You don't know me, and know what I know. So your wasting your time patronizing me. Ive been modding cars for a lot longer than you think. With your measly 104 posts, you should've sat this one out. When I first starting posting on here, I gave a lot of people their props. I know how it is to spend a lot of money and energy on a car and to feel good about it, because it is hard work, and its a sense of accomplishment.
Trying to join the bandwagon to fit in, does not earn you any respect. And you need to ask questions about why someone said something, instead of just assuming things. You should've asked why I posted that and why I feel the way I do, instead of just calling me a "dumbarse" which makes you look like a total loser. Not calling you one, but makes you look like one. The previous posts before yours were much more intelligent.

The cars were dead even. the car that pulls away is in fact the turbo car. the video camera is in jksstar's car, and the reason for me pulling was a missed gear, and the other traction so he let off. The last pull was the only good one thru 3rd gear his nitrous and my full boost hit at the same time car were dead even, only thing winning a race between our cars would be driving. his car will definatly go high 11's.

Justin im glad we could get your car done and i hope your having fun with it and i hope to see you soon so we can line up again. (but not too soon)lol

who said anything about how long you have been modding cars???? who cares???? nobody is judging you by what you have done or are capable of doing. i am sure you are more then qualified to do whatever you like to your vehicle. just as my # of post has absolutely nothing to do with my worthiness on this site or what I am capable of doing to a car. you decided to come onto this thread and show your **** by sayings things such as "I still get don't how this worthless thread got into 3 pages long" and "a sleeper is ridiculous". Why say those things??? What good does that do? Let the guy have his 5 minutes, no need to rain on his parade ya know.

Thanks man, your car pulls hard

starting to get use to driving my car again so next time I hope you are running 10 + psi

trying to get the car ready now for the track, if I can hook at all (not sure about my tires) I don't see 11s being hard at all and thinking I can get some mid to low 13s off the bottle

Man, you have a really good attitude. After all I said before on this thread, and you still are positive and confident in your Z, and didn't even try to fight back or argue. I definitely respect that. Not only props to your "sleeper", but to you as a person.

that is very clean. Think you need some track wheels or 35th wheels.
