I am just jeleous of your D700. That came out about 60 days after I bought my D300. I was pissed! I would have spent the extra $$ for the better high-ISO performance and full-frame sensor.
I just have too many hobbies - Z's, photography, Mountain Biking, Road biking. And the list goes on.
Congrats though... I can only imagine the impossible shots you can get with 1.8 glass wide-open at ISO 6400. Be sure to post pics...

^ I'm pretty sure final force uses a D60 - that 35mm would be useless on a Nikon FX. On a D60 or any other DX camera it will shine though...think of it as a full frame camera's nifty fifty - though it does cost $200.
As for the D700 - I love having full frame and having all the lens behave how they suppose to. Its the biggest advantage especially since so many of Nikkor's finest lens are designed for ff.
