the problem with riding a bike thats too powerful for you is that when you get into trouble.. when you try to get out of it.. your natural reaction is to try and get out quick.. thats when you are in for a rude awakeing when you twist that throttle. I can't tell you how many times when i was learning i was at a light and was in second gear.. then i tried to start and it bogged..t hen i grabbed too much throttle and up went the front wheel.. scared me a couple times..
its your life.. choose wisely how live it.

You cant "ride it as if it were a 250." You can't "make" that bike have 25-30hp. PLEASE take a class and don't get on that thing until you are have some experience on a smaller bike. It's your life so do what you want, I'd just rather see you learn right so you stick with it, instead of scare yourself or end up being a guy I read about and use as a lesson to the next new guy.

If you have to learn on a 600, please get a cbr f1/f2 or something similar. Learning throttle control on a modern SS is a bad idea...it takes a while to get smooth and the FI on modern bikes is very abrupt and unforgiving. Having a highside is a rough way to learn not to chop the throttle closed in a turn.

The problem is now these 600's have more raw power than they used to and are very dangerous. Not a safe starteer bike even if you 'feel' you can handle it. The good thing about 250's is when you buy one used you can sell it for damn near what you payed for it.

wow thaanks for all the advice guys, but i have a bigger problem on my hands than learning how to ride the bike properly. it all started like this, well ive been shopping for a bike for a few months and my friend tells me his friend is selling his 04 gsxr for 4gs. so i end up getting it and the guy ends up telling me that he doesnt have his pink and that its at his parents house and hes going to send it to me once he gets it. now the guy isnt responding and its been over a week. ive been trying to figure this out to register the bike, but theres so much hassle im going through. im trying to get this figured out at the dmv and its a pain in the ***. my friend actually barely knew this guy and that didn't make things any better.
