Yes indeed. I was going with the 50mm Sigma, but the non extending focus sealed the deal.

How is the AF on the Sigma 50 2.8 macro?

I've been looking for a used Canon 100 macro but haven't had much luck and the ones I have found are basically the same price as buying new. The main reason being that I want the Canon 100 is that it fits on the 1D series body. I figure if the Sigma AF is decent, I'll use it on the 20D until I sell the 20D for a 5D and then purchase a Canon 100 macro and use it on my 1D MKII, selling the Sigma when I sell the 20D.

the motor is noisy and it's somewhat slow. other than that it's great.

Ok, WOW! I just found about macro from this thread and I have been going CRAZY with the camera. Didn't know my camera was capable of this. Thanks!


I love this picture. This is probably the best picture I have ever taken lol. Sad. And yes, I just recently hit 30,000 miles =D
