Default My DIY engine bay painting!

Sorry, I only have one pic for now. It's nothing incredible, but after 5 hours and lots of sweat, I feel the need to share with ya'll. You can also see my DIY blackhousing headlights, 12 hours over 3 days, and $300 later, don't ask! =\

***UPDATE***
Taking some of the advice in this thread, I repainted the battery and brake fluid covers black. Looks better now IMO. (lighting was bad and makes the red look a little orange). I still love the strut bar and engine cover! =)

Yeah, it was hard for me to decide on a color theme. I mean, the car's black! I couldn't just paint the plastic parts more black!

red on black looks good imo.
What kinda paint?
I'm thinking of using PPG Silverstone and Polyurethane clear coat for the parts I'll be painting.

I used Krylon Paint for plastic and Krylon Clear Coat. They've worked well on many of the plastic parts I've painted.

i don't know, looks pretty tacky. Also using rattle cans, it must have a lot of orange peel on it as well. Hope you prepped it well.

If you are going to rattle can, Krylon is the way to go!... Orange peel?... I doubt it.... It looks great!!

I have done MANY DIY's with Krylon and they came out great! ... The clear coat step is the crucial part and wetsanding smooooooth / polishing is what is going to show your efforts...

GREAT JOB on your DIY!!

Thanks Triji! This is my 3rd DIY with Krylon. No issues whatsoever. There is no orange peel either. The clear coat pretty much evened everything out.
