I see. I ask only b/c in post #1462 you posted a pic that shows the passenger side floor mat and it has a raised vinyl/rubber area where you feet would go, and I am wondering if that is part of the nismo mat itself or something you just laid on top of the mat?

Ahh, I see what you mean. You are correct. I put rubber mats on top of both of them, I just forgot to take it out for the picture.

LOL. I really like the way they look with the rubber mats. It gives the mat a high quality look. IDK maybe it's just me Anyway thanks for taking the time to clear that up.
Not just you. I saw it and thought he customized his Nismo floormats. I like it like that, though, especially on the HR version floormats as they have a different fabric color/texture than the actual carpet underneath.

I had no clue those floor mats would have that effect I just put them on their because I'm lazy to always vacuum the carpet. It makes for easy clean up.
If you never had those rubber protectors, then you'd know why I (and probably the others) noticed. Without those, your heels dig into the carpet and you start seeing easily noticeable differences in the carpet. I probably don't have to tell you how horrible that looks. Anyway, I say leave it in when taking shots of the HR's interior.
I'm trying to keep the street car theme going and not making it look too much like a track/race car. Carbon can work really well if you want to keep your interior plush as long as you don't overdue it and just have it as an accent piece/s. If you put too much I feel like the cool, classy and sporty feeling is gone and I'm driving a noisy track car.

What exactly are the HR Nismo floor mats? I bought these and the material is different from the actual carpet in my Z.

Sorry, what you have are actually 06+ floor mats. I was off by a year. The 03-05s have a different flooring so the floor mat shape is different. The material they used for these 1st gen floor mats are made of the same material as the actual carpet underneath. The newer one looks and feels cheap in comparison, imo, but it does come with that heel guard, I guess.
FF, are you still running the GReddy coils? Or did you switch out to something else? You seem to be able to get your rear a lot lower than me, and I have the greddys. I even removed the top locking collar from the rear coilovers to get it down about another maybe 2.5mm. Looks like you used to tuck a little in the rear and mine won't get there.....although I am running 18's
