First impressions of the Veilside treatment.
Looks fan-friggin-tastic IMHO. More aggressive without going too far and ricer way. Extra venting and longer nose in preparation for the twin turbo system are great. That extra venting allows the sweet sound of the V6 to be all the more audiable.
I am extremely pleased with the car, but just a few little points. I have to contact Veilside to see if there is more adjustment available in the aero mirrors, at the moment all I can see is when the car needs cleaning
will put some mirror inserts for wider vision anyway.
The VS badge for the front is held on with some pathetic weak gum. If you get this from Veilside just ease it off and use a much stronger adhesive, it is a really heavy badge and I almost lost mine because of the original weak gum.
The longer front bumper and styling of it gives you alot less clearance. I now have to reverse out of my apartment building as it grounds out if I go forwards. Still this may not be a problen for most, just my apartment building has a rather sharp abrupt rise when you drive in.
Also gave the car a good radar detector. Works well, gave me 100m warning of a speed radar that was set up to catch traffic in the opposite direction !
I'm happy with it, what you guys/gals think ?

Just IMO, that looks ricey. It totally betrays the lines that were given to the Z by its designers, and the monstrous hood gap isnt making it any better. Also, im not a big fan of the excessively protruding snout.
Thats just my opinion, to each his own i guess.

Well praise the heavens that one person bothered to reply on a forun dedicated to the car, even if the comments weren't complementary they are appreciated.
I first noticed the hood gap and immediately thought of a similar size gap I've seen on Mercs. It just needs adjustment so I'll take it back to Veilside for that.
Ricey ? I tried hard not to do that and keep it functional. The MK II hood and the MK III front bumper were selected to keep the engine cool later. The plan is after the engine has been proven reliable and bulletproof, to install twin turbos. If you look under the hood you'll see there is not much room. The extended bummper will be home to the intercooler, the turbo installation I will be having moounts on the underside of the engine, but you still need a good air intake at the topside.
I got no huge wing on the back, or fancy side extensions or stickers plastered all over it. I got what I needed for the purpose I intend. To boost power safely in the future and get some track days in with it.

Ricey, No, not at all. Veilside is one of the most respected and best quality after market body kits you can buy. My version 3 widebody kit is in the shop waiting to be put on. I can't wait.
dazee, your car looks awesome. Keep up the good work

Thankyou. I'm sure you will be happy with it. They do good work. I'd like to have had wider wheels on the back, but my parking system only gives me 2cm either side to spare now. Anyway, first things first. I gotta get my track license and learn the current limits I can push it to.
Cheers. I like my car or bike to look good but also functional. The car will be seeing quite a few track days, Similarly I had a Hayabusa that was lightened with full carbon fiber parts, piped and tuned. It saw 80,000 hard pushed km in the 3 years before the crash. Car will get similar usage but hopefully minus the crash

I like it, but don't like the foglight holes in the bumper.
I prefer the Hasemi hood myself.

Will take a look at that. I'm only using the inner set of holes for some driving lights - operated now by the redundant mirror switch. The outer set of holes are being used to duct cooling air to the brakes.
See what you mean now I checked the thread out. I do think Veilside should have smoothed the widebody kit into the car as in that photoshop picture. The screwholes etc just cheapen the look of it and the rear wing is too much, even on the supercharged NOS car in their showroom it looked too much.
Don't know how I would have set up the brakes cooling ducts with other than round holes though.

r34racer just out of interest what do they do to the R34 in the USA to make it street legal. I heard from some that they spoil it a little. Best thing I ever saw was a modded R34 over here launch from the traffic lights smoking all 4 tires
You made a good choice. The R32 was the original badass but is a bit dated now, the R33 was just a bloated pig IMHO. Glad when the R34 came out that it was getting back to the grass roots, a killer street car.
Got some nice photo sequences from the Grand Tourismo practice at Motegi showing two different R34's humiliating a couple of Porsche GT cars and one Ferrari GT car.

In fact this is a photo gallery, so even though it's not a 350Z here is a R34 showing Ferrari how it's done
As you can see the R34 is slightly behind at the start of the long straight.
then quickly starts to nudge ahead
then pretty soon all the Ferrari sees is tail lights

. It's just an obsession for me as it is my favorite car. I agree completely with you about the distinction between the generations of skylines. The R33 sure was a looker though, however, the R34 redefines 'badass'. With reference to your question about legalizing skylines, yes they do 'ruin' them a bit. They relocate the FMIC (intercooler) a bit because the stock mounting position will cause the car to fail a frontal impact test that the US requires for street legality. Additionally, they ever so slightly detune/reprogram the engine to comply with california smog standards. Other than that, they have to make other smaller changes to obtain legality. But hell, the way I figure it, if you're lucky enough to own one, then i'd assume it wouldnt stay stock--or legal--for very long.
Four wheel burnouts are possible but very dangerous for the transmission because of the sheer power the rb26dett is capable of. The highest power rating i've ever heard of is ex vi termini's R33 GT-R at 1megawatt- thats about 1350hp at the crank. Check out www.exvitermini.com and look at gtr700 for more info.
That's too bad, especially with the new tough Japanese laws they are not going to be making any mass production cars over 280ps anymore. So now cars like the R34 are much sought after.
For similar power to what you quoted, this is the Veilside Street Drag R34 with somewhere around the 1300hp mark.

Actually, recently many japanese automakers have been starting to break the voluntary 276hp regulation. The Z has 287, and the new GTR has been rumored to produce anywhere from 380-400 and may even use a v8. Toyota/Lexus has a v10 supercar supposedly in the works, and the new supra will most probably have 300+ hp to steal the Z's market.
They do make over 280 very regularly, but are only allowed to advertise at 280. Got an independant magazine test over here that produced actual figures from cars tested. It was a while ago now, but they tested the Evo VIII , WRX STi etc but the only figures that I remember was the base version of the Z produced 284hp on their test, the sports version with the Fujitsuburo (spelling) exhaust, was about 294hp (happy because it's what I have). The Skyline GTR34 was the killer though. Advertised 280hp stock, actual was 340hp stock. Not sure about the new ones coming out, but dealers here say the emissions laws etc for new cars are alot stricter now.
Of course there are those who do not keep a car stock for long
