Here you go -check out this link about claying your car - basically removes the contaminants that normal washing does not remove. If your think your car shines, now, clay bar it the next time you wash and you will not only see the differnece, but feel the difference.

+1 on the clay bar. It's a very easy process and the results are amazing. When I recently bought my 2006 350Z it appeared to be in pristine condition. After I washed and waxed it I thought it looked great (it did), but when I ran my hand over it I could feel little specks of something that my washing and waxing apparently didn't remove. When I looked close I could see microscopic spots, which I could feel with my finger. Then I read up on clay barring. I picked up a Mothers Clay Bar kit and had at it. Now when I run my hand over the paint it is absolutely smooth like a sheet of glass!
Good job, man! It usually takes me about 8 hrs to do a full detail job. Clay bar is a must!
My steps:
wash - Dawn dish detergent
clay - Mother's (best bang for the buck)
polish - Wolfgang swirl remover 3.0
wax - 1 layer of Wolfgang sealant 3.0
wax - 1 layer of PS21 carnuaba wax

Dish soap works really well as a de-greaser (think about scrubbing a caserole dish clean), but it's going to be a bit more "powerful" than your Turtle ICE or Gold Class or other off the shelf car wash solutions.
dish soap is meant to take off the current coat(s) of wax so you can start fresh. wax should last about 6-8 weeks. obviously youll know if the water stops beading.

It's important to note that most degreasers will usually remove protective layers of sealant or wax, so use as needed. It's important that you know you'll need to re-apply your coat(s) of protection.

^Yes, that's correct. I forgot to mention that I only use Dawn dish soap only when I'm doing the full detail. Dawn soap will remove any old wax on your car. For normal car washes, I use Meguairs car soap.
