Default It's a wrap turned bolt on thread

So over the past couple years my paint has been showing its age. One of my friends who owns his own sign business has been trying to get a car to wrap for a while now to practice on and hopefully get a few customers willing to wrap there's too. I saw 3M matte metallic blue on an Audi a while back and fell in love with that color.

But here's the before

During. Because of my work and school schedule, I would help him lay a couple panels, then he would finish them by himself.

And after, I think the stock body pulls it off quite well.

Haven't gotten any good daytime shots yet since I'm stuck working 5am-5pm right now. Some parts were definitely a huge pita, like the rear bumper. Over the winter I'm going to try and source some reasonably priced 06+ headlights and tailights.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone. Too bad it's raining on my day off. Hopefully I'll have time to get better pictures this week.

I just don't get how this is done so [apparently] flawlessly....??? My attempt at wrapping my side skirts yielded bubbles and peeling edges. What is your technique? Did you put soapy water on first? 2 people holding? I'd love to practice this but am unclear on finer details such as when you get to an edge, does it just stick over or how do you secure it to keep from peeling back? I had a HELL of a time attempting teh "lip" on my INGS N spec front. Too many angles to try to push/pull around. Had to go down while also going around. Effin frustrating.

Oh, btw, I love that color too! Car looks clean and simple with the RPF1s

It took two and sometimes three people with a lot of patience. Did you remove all the wax and hit the car with some alcohol? I can pm you my friends email to ask him. He can help you out more than I can. Definitely not an easy job though.

And thanks. It's the look I'm trying to keep with my car, except it doesn't really blend in anymore being blue and all.

Ok, that makes me feel better. I had a buddy helping me and it seemed like if I had one or two more hands it would have worked way better. The skirts never had wax on them, but didn't use alcohol. I think we stretched too much and worked the sticky off in some areas.

Thanks for the advice though.

I've been thinking about something. Can you wrap a already wrapped car to peel off to the underlaying wrap? Someone should make something like that so that when you want a different color you just keep peeling until you run out of wraps and your back to the original color. I hope someone thought of this idea, that would be cool having a different car color every week or everyday anytime you want.

I would think that it sticks too much, that stuff seems to double in grip when it touches more vinyl .

I was a little wary of this color at first. It looked awesome on the roll and the other cars I have seen it on, but looked really faded with the light we were using. All those concerns went away after seeing it outside for the first time. Probably my favorite color of all time, haha.

I'll get pictures of corners and other spots of concern too sometime this week. I think wrapping over wrap would most likely drive someone insane too.

Something that is already layered that is tough enough to stick on but easy enough to peel off without tearing off the layer below it. Almost like when you peel a decal off from the paper to put on something or peel a sticker off. Something with multiple layers and can be applied just like any wrap. That would be a cool idea to get into, maybe even start a business or call the product "Onion wrap" or "Chameleon wrap" since it's in layers that you peel off and has different colors. Someone would make a lot of money with an invention like that. A lot easier and less expensive than painting your car and you get a new car color when you want. No one steal my idea lol, if you do your all witnesses here to say that I came up with the idea
