Plastidipped the car, and got most of my NA mods done.
first here is my car freshly out of the paint job. clean, gorgeous and NEW PAINT!!!
unfortunately 2 months after the paint shop.... the paint started to lift and also started to crack! .... well there goes 3000.00 paint job. live and learn never pay cash with no receipt for a paint job... my own fault.. **** happens.
So comes in PlastiDip. I talked to my buddy who mentioned to dip the car. I agreed for him to paint the car. but it needed to be a extreme color. he suited up and went to town prepping the car first.

its a hyper shift color, so far its still shiny. still sparkly. color shifts from a green to purple to blue. its held up pretty good at the drag strip. going to auto club speedway next to see how it holds up at the big road course.
it looks and feels like paint. so we shall see how it holds with the hot California sun, and the track days.

If you think that looks textured then you haven't seen bad pdip jobs... I have seen Waaaaaay worse. There is a Maserati Q done in matte dark blue done by a well known shop in NYC i see daily that makes this look outstanding. LOL. It is just that "nice". Not great, awesome or outstanding it's a nice in-expensive alternative if you want the chameleon look. There has been way worse posted here with crap wheels etc.. No need to bash this guys car

He paid 3k for a cheap paint job, another 1kish for this dip....
If he had save up and done it properly, he wouldve had a quality paint job for an extra 1kish...
For a plastidip job I will say it was done nicely.
I personally wouldn't plastidip my car or make my car that color, but I've seen horrible jobs done locally...specifically on the larger panels like the hood, but it looks even on this car.
so that's not texture by the way, its the added flakes/pearls to the top coat (clear coat) which makes it appear like texture but its not how else is the color shift going to work for me. but cant beat the 500 dollar paint job. still its temporary until I find another body shop.
then again everyone has there own opinion, I like the way it came out. thankfully that's the only opinion I value.

It's kind of funny, maybe what like...7-8 years ago, flat/matte/satin paint were the new thing. Before that time attack stripes on wheels. I feel like the next wave of paint is going to be color shifts (especially with the relatively lower cost of plastidip compared to actual automotive paints. But on the flip-side, it makes really well paint jobs standout in a crowd.

+1 on the plasti-dip at home install...came out good
Im not a fan of the color only because the stock body isnt dramatic enough to pull that color off. Gotta get the right stance and wheels too.
Color shift is tricky because you really have to have a fully put together car to make it stand out in a good way.
Seems like your just getting your car going and plasti dipping new body kit parts is easy, especially for you now...Save up for a nice kit, proper suspension parts for a nice ride height and lastly and certainly not least, good specs on those wheels.
