I'm not sure knocking down four cones in three runs & DNFs in three other runs is good car control. However, the only clean run he ran was also his fastest time.

Wei was driving a Prelude. Here's a picture of his Prelude doing wheelies . . . I'm still trying to get my Z to do that but just would not cooperate.

Doesn't beat them up at all hardly. Mostly just the tires get a little abused. Road Racing a car is way way more hard on a car than autox.

^+1

My Z was more beat up during our Hill County cruize a couple of weeks ago than anytime that I've autocrossed. The AT&T Center is a great venue for autocross -- nice smooth surface with hardly any debris on the pavement. Even if you knocked down a cone, it will not damage or scratch your Z at all. The course is also laid out so you are nowhere near any curbs or posts in the huge parking lot.

Solo & z-u-later & wei: how worn out the tires would be, like go buy some new ones or they are still very driveable? one more thing, what about break pads???

My tires still look new after the autocross after 7 runs that day. They definitely have more than 95% life left. Like I said, it isn't that hard on the tires at all either.

Brake pads, like no wear!

I took my stock Z to an HPDE last year in Forth Worth & it performed well. Each HPDE track session is about 20 minutes long & you run 6-8 track sessions each day, sometimes going 100+mph on the straighaways. After the HPDE & the round trip back to SA (four hours each way), my Z still looks like new.

In autocross, each run is only about 50-60 seconds & you may get 6-8 runs each day. You are mostly in 2nd gear. Wear & tear? Hardly at all compared to being on a track. Your stock tires & brakes are fine for autocross. Heck, there are less road-worthy cars running in autocross all the time. It's called their "project cars" . . .

Yeah, I think the Spokes guys would want to see the NISMO Z that was discussed for two weeks & cluttered my mailbox! They also probably want to see your NISMO wing that one announcer described this weekend as, "the non-functional wing for autocross & only good for slicing cones in half."

You won't have to worry about buying new ones, it's just not that kinda sport you know. To be honest, I wouldn't even worry about tire wear at all, either. My car (Honda) experiences lots of body-roll, plus the way I drive, I can gradually see a little tire wear on the edge (sidwall) event after event, but only so little. Zs, in particular, after seeing Ed's/Brandon's/Russell's car, as long as you don't drift or burn-out, your tires should still look fresh like theirs.
