This event was great. I got a vid of Jason sliding it around the high speed section.

I wish I could have made this one, but it looks like the November event will be my first encounter with drifting. As far as spinning out goes... you're not trying hard enough if you don't screw up sometimes.
Good job Jason !
I'm sure its alot harder than it looks......and Eric is right. If you don't push it passed your limits, then your not learning anything.
I would like to go next time to either watch or ride with somebody. I'm not too sure I can afford tires for drifting yet. I need to start practicing my fish-tales.

The high speed section was by far the hardest part. Most people didn't hold the drift as long as Jason did in that section. By the time I left, Jason had figured out the back section and was nailing it consistantly. It was a ton of fun being a passenger while he was running the track. Thanks for the ride along.

See a few things may happen as a new beginner drifter:
1. You may spin out every freak'n time you go out on course which will kill tires quick....
2. You may AutoX the course and try initiating drifts...fish tail it, back off, autoX sa-more, fishtail it...etc.......as a timid beginner and not wear out so much tires...
or
3. you may pick it up like a natural and eat up 6 or more tires total in one day out there...

I get all of my tires in Arlington, Grand Prairie, Irving, etc....
your best bet is to go with me or with someone else in a truck or something, cause every time i show up with my Z they are quick to throw you really high prices....
I like going with someone else thats also looking for tires because in pairs you are obviously buying more and when you flash the cash the rinky-dinky tire shop owners are willing to deal!
you WILL NOT get a deal if you show up and only want to buy two tires...but if you go with me........and say i buy 4 tires and you want 2 tires.......well do all the talking for 6 tires and flash the cash and get then at a good price per tire!!!
I usually go to tire shops and they start out at wanting 40 bucks a tire!
I NEVER BUY unless i get it down to 25-30 bucks a tire!!!

your best bet on an extra set of drift wheels is to get some OEM 17's or 18's off the forum or by checking craigslist left and right!!!
I purchased 6 - MB Weapon 17X9's for 300 bucks off a buddy i knew that was selling them for cheap.......i think he just needed money? i dunno ---
I purchased 4 Voxx Misanos 17X9, +20 offset wheels for 400 from my cousin.
plus i have my old oem wheels and another set of 06 oem wheels........lol..
personally, i would never buy new wheels, cause im just gonna drift them anyways...

WHEELS FOR DRIFTING:
if you don't find any deals. i would just go to discount tire direct and purchase some MB wheels........either weapon, competitions...etc...
NA, the Z turns a 17 inch wheel well for drifting and the 9 inch width allows for tires in 225-255 ...........I run 245 normally all the time...

i could just get a spare set of tires i guess, but i have 20 inch wheels. probably better off getting some lightweight and smaller wheels with tires. too bad i cant really spend alot of money on it. maybe i will just go out there and see how it affects the tires, i could always do a few runs and they should be ok.

Yeah me too. I told my Pops about the last one and he'll be joining me for the Nov 16th event. Now I just need to convince him to sign up to drift his 02 WRX. He's got a Cobb Stage2 package on it.
