If someone would ever think to plan these events at least partially including a weekend, I actually might come to one. Although, every year, it's only Mon-Fri and just isn't worth using vacation days. Even ending on Saturday would be nice. I'd pay whatever and come just for the one day to check it out. Oh well.

 

The convention is always during the week. For some reason people don't realize that this isn't just a Texas event. We have people driving from California, Canada, NJ and all points in between.

You need to give people 2 days to drive to the convention and 2 days to drive home. Then you have to coordinate hotels, a race track, restaurants, caterers, car show site, volunteers, sponsors etc.. so everyone has the dates available you need. Race track rentals cost more on a weekend and hotel rooms are more expensive on the weekend. So there is more to it than just picking dates and saying ok let's do it on these days.

Of course you may get your wish next year but then it won't be in Texas so you'll have to travel to which ever state it will be held.
