Hey, Jason. My current rear tires probably have 2/32" or less tread on the inside (slight camber wear). I do have replacement tires for these (but no other set of wheel), but I was planning on burning my current ones off first at the drift event then mount the replacements onto my daily wheels (I'll be drifting on them too).

My question is:
Do I need to mount my replacement tires (my new daily tires) on a different wheel and bring those just in case? I just don't want the current worn out rears to pop or blow while I'm drifting on them (trying to kill these) and I don't have rear wheels to drive back on.

Chris,

I understand you going out there and killing the tires you currently have on your car.........cool...

1. But you need to have someone with a truck or SUV follow you out with your other tires..........so that you can also leave in that truck or SUV to go mount tires off site (few miles down the road).

2. If you don't have any other wheels with the tires already mounted, then you will need to hit up the local tire shops/walmart to have them change your tires......(loss of seat time, but not too bad since everything is close!)

3. YOU NEED to have good tires to drive home on........you CAN NOT drift a lil on a set and think, im just gonna stop and not kill them and drive home on them...........YOU NEED A UNDRIFTED SET TO DRIVE HOME ON!.

As a beginner you will EAT TIRES!!! So make sure you have an unmolested set to swap too to drive your Z home on..


ALSO, THIS EVENT IS A SATURDAY - THERE WILL BE OTHER TIRE SHOPS OPEN!

NOTE: WALMART IS BY FAR THE CHEAPEST - HOWEVER IN THE PAST US DRIFTERS HAVE HAD HATRED AND RACISM FROM THAT WALMART WITH HICK LIKE SAYINGS "WE DON'T MOUNT LOW PROFILE TIRES" AND "YOU GUYS ARENT EVEN FROM AROUND HERE SO YOU CAN LEAVE"

I HAVE PERSONALLY BEEN THERE AND HAD TO DEAL WITH THAT HICK CRAP!

ACIDJAKE75 AND I BOTH DEALT WITH IT FOR THE LAST TIME AT THE LAST EVENT! WE CONTACTED THAT WALMARTS MAIN MANAGER THAT WASNT THERE ON THAT LAST SUNDAY EVENT AND WALMART CORPORATE AND WE WILL BE BRINGING CORRESPONDENCE (EMAIL PRINT OUTS) SO THAT IF WE GET THAT CRAP AGAIN FROM THE AUTOMOTIVE MANAGER WE CAN HAVE SOME LEVERAGE.......

THEY JUST DONT WANNA HELP OUTSIDERS.......THATS ALL THAT IT IS! THERE IS NO RULE OR ANYTHING ABOUT ANY WALMART NOT MOUNTING OUR TIRES.

I highly recommend you kill the tires you have and do it!! especially since its a saturday event and the tire shops are open!

+1000000000 on the saturday thing and other shops being open. I will see what all I can find since I talked to corporate walmart and the local mgr there so we can get the leverage we need IN CASE someone is need of a tire.

I would also call the other shops and check business hrs etc.

This is going to so much damn fun! If you go once....forget it, your going to be HOOKED!

racing usually starts at 9 or 930 am........but you can show up with us if you like and check out everyone pit and swap tires, etc...up to you..

I was going to try and show up with the G but my new wheel/tires don't quite fit.

I need a set of 5mm spacers and longer studs. Know where to get them around DFW?

In the mean time I'll bring my Dodge ;-]

I HAD A BLAST!! and thats an understatement! My tires lasted ALL DAY.. I was getting the hang of it and everyone was soooooo cool out there. got some damn good lessons from Aaron and from Z-Ya's cousin.. My new wheels arent so new anymore..they took a beating yesterday...

 

ish was crazy!!!!

Had a blast.............cant wait till the next one.........

Had fun giving ride alongs to other my350z peeps as well........

thanks so much to those that helped me mount wheels etc during pit time...
