Travis, just be sure there isn't any AX event the same day....that way I can attend.
Last cruise we had up thru some nice roads in Denton....Chris P. knows the route....he was on point that day/eve.

I did lead one of the "Dallas Summer Sunset Cruises" back in '07(?) but it was only once and it was McKinney/Princeton area. A couple of those threads should have routes posted but we don't have to take the same routes.
Just suggestions/recommendations for cruises:
Feel free to add to the list, but the above is probably the most important and I'll add more if I remember.
As for when.... I want to say after my car is up and running but that'll be a really long from now. For sure, check dfwautocross.com calendar to avoid the autox/track days.
Just suggestions/recommendations for cruises:
- avoid or minimize driving on the local streets as much as possible as the group will inevitably be separated due to street lights and other traffic
- highways are best if you want the group to stay together or for pictures
- back roads in rural areas are great for keeping the cruise itself more interesting with some twisties but it needs to first be scoped out (lowered friendly, detours, potholes, etc)
- have multiple people be familiar with the route and put them in the front, throughout the middle, and back in case group gets separated so they can lead
- bring walkie-talkies (for the above people) so things can be communicated immediately as necessary
Feel free to add to the list, but the above is probably the most important and I'll add more if I remember.

Finally found this thread! May I ask the age range of the individuals that usually attend these meets? I'm eager to meet some Z owners that are close and get some advice. Y'all seem like a relaxed group of guys!
Thanks.
Thanks.

We don't discriminate for any reason, including age, so don't let that discourage you. I joined the forum and attended meets since I was 18 and never did I feel out of place. I'd say most of us are in our 20-30s and less as you get farther away from that age group. How old are you?
I see that you're in Prosper. I'm in McKinney and there are a few that live around our area.

We have a pretty diverse group here. Hope to catch you at an event!

I generally go to the Denton North Drag Way every Friday night, more of a muscle crowd than anything. Have any of you guys been?

I drag raced for several years but have never even seen 1/8 mile track and don't ever plan to go to one. Waste a money to race for 7-9 sec, especially since those 1/8 mile drag strips rarely have good track prep. 1/4 mile (or longer) is more fun since you can wind out your car a bit more. Autox is more fun and tracks are even better, imo.

^ Check out the TX Events section since we post info about all events in those sections. I sticky all upcoming events, too, so it's easier to find. Also, keep watching this thread and the DFW Lounge thread as a lot of the details for events are ironed out here/there.
There are two ¼ mile strips within reasonable driving distance from DFW (Texas Motorplex @ Ennis and Dallas Raceway @ Crandall). I highly recommend giving drag racing a try. It's a fun and cheapest way to get into motorsports, but it is mostly domestics. Tire shredding shouldn't really a problem unless you spin your street tires excessively for no reason, like doing burnouts or holding the gas when you clearly have no traction.
