Default NoVA/MD Tinting

I wanted ask if anyone had any recommendations for places to get tint. I was looking at tinting my G at 35% with a charcoal/smoky color rather than the typical black color. I know about LA Tint (who quoted me $349!!!) and California Tint who stated 'We can only do 20% and only in black'. I am willing to drive as long as the price is reasonable (150-250) and the quality is good. I ran a search came up on a post in October that recommended LA Tint...but I called them and they wanted $349.........

Someone was passing out LA tint cards at the last little 350z meet i was at and on their website it allows you to get a quote and i dont remember the quote being anywhere near 350. I was thinking about getting a tint too. Do you know what the legal limit is in VA?

Ya, I believe on tintdude.com or tint.com they have legal limits for all states. In VA I believe the legal tint limit is 35% all around, but correct me if im wrong.

Well I just found out legal tint in VA is 50% for the driver/passenger windows and 35% for the 3 rear windows.....got a great quote from Tint Specialists in alexandria VA...they quoted me $170 for legal (50%) and $190 for 35% tints, over the phone. This is where I think I will be going!!

I been looking everywhere online for a website...but was unable to find one for them. This is the closest thing I found...its an advertisement/listing for them.

Tint Specialists

I also called the second link on the same page 'America's Auto Detailing', and the guy said they have 'someone' who does tinting, but he's not like a permanent part of their company, just a guy who kinda drops by 1-2x a week does a few tint jobs and leaves......I think Id rather deal w/ the 1st b/c all they do is tinting, rather than have some random guy not show up, or do a poor job w/ no insurance of getting it done right. Their price was also around $200 for 35%.

They have a coupon for :

Coupon #1

Tint Specialists

Tint any car for $99!

Darkest tint allowed by law.

Many other shades available.

Ask about our graphics.

Expiration Date:
none *Exclusions:
None

I don't know if this changes any of their quality of work, but I am thinking about just presenting it to them and seeing what they say.

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICEEEEEEEEEEEE!! Im trying to find an excuse/way to get off of work tomorrow so I can go in the AM....hopefully late AM to avoid the @#$#%#$ traffic!! Might just call in and say I got a goiter

Normally Id wait til after the tint job to present coupons...so they dont know in advance and perform the same job as normal....but they might get pissed off and refuse the coupon?

I got mine tinted at this place close to Fairfax Circle on RT 50. Just across of Harley Davidson. Good job for $200. If someone is interested, then I will look for the exact name and address.

That would be great if you could provide me their name/number/website/location. I would rather save myself the drive in traffic on 495/395 and since I have seen your ride....I do in fact like the tint on it. Would you be so kind as to provide that info?? I have really looked everywhere and had come to the conclusion that in order to get tint in our area, I would have to go either to Frederick/Baltimore in MD, or Alexandria/Fredricksburg in VA. Do you know if they are a pretty big place, and have different film types (ie Huper Optik, Llumar)??

Thanks for the reply!!

I had my Altima done at California Tint and they did 35% all the way around for $200. I can't imagine the Z being more money, it doesn't have as many windows and they are smaller.

I was going to go get my Z done at LA tint but they will only put on the legal limit and that sucks. I've had 35% all the way around on all my cars and have never had a problem with the fuzz.

I called Calif. Tint and asked for charcoal/grey tint (NOT mirror- ) and the guy acted like they only had 1 shade and 20%....I wouldnt mind going to them, but since I have a brilliant silver car, I wanted to get a ceramic charcoal colored tint...do you know if they offer that at Calif. Tint???

Yeah the tint I had on the Altima was a charcoal color. My Altima was Sheer Silver and the tint looked really good.

I diffenetly wouldn't get that ghetto mirror tint, I hate that stuff. If you go there they have samples of the different types and darknesses of tint.

VA State law limits you to 35% on the back and rear quarters, and 50% on the sides. If I remember correctly, the LA Tint in Sterling did my car for something like $250. They did Stopgo's car too (he's not too active here these days), and did an amazing job.
