yeah, from what we were talking about, I heard people wanting to leave early on friday so they we can get down there an do a run before it gets too dark. I have heard caravan ideas of like 7:00 am. I think it is a bit early, but maybe we should get roll calls going to see who is going to be where and maybe we can meet up with the Richmond folks along the way, picking up people as we go.

Hey guys, don't know if you've seen this yet, but here is a link to the weekends schedule of events. This is why I'm leaving at like 4:00 AM to get down there on time. There is stuff going on throughout the day on Friday that I don't want to miss. As the time gets closer, we'll coordinate things. Maybe we can set up two caravans, one for early morning, and one for mid-morning or something. I couldn't pass up the chance to go through the detailing classes with Dr. Bonz on Friday!

http://www.zdayzevents.com/activitiez_frame.htm

Check it out and post your thoughts on when you'd like to arrive down there. We can plan backwards from there.

This is gonna be SOOOOOOO awesome!

4 AM sound good to me. I'd like to get the most out of the weekend. Plus, by the time we get off of I-95 and start encountering some unfamiliar roads in western VA and NC, the sun should be out. Hopefully we'll see some nice scenery on the drive down.

Good to hear you wanna come Ben. Over half of the rooms at Fontana are already booked, and I don't know if there are any $49/night rooms left. It be best to call for exact availability.

Just a reminder guys...if you haven't done so already, pre-registration is due April 15th. Take advantage of the early registration to save a whopping $8! As Brett says...May won't get here soon enough .

ahh so u decided finally doluck huh?
why is it the kit i can get basically for free is already been taken by 2 guys in the mid-atlantic area.....basterds dont worry ill have my day one day! hehe

i am still debating the 4AM drive....thats one early haul...especially 9hrs...who knows i might be crazy eneough to do it...i got the V1 and ive driven that direction many many times towards University of North Carolina...I almost never see cops on the way down there...Usually cruise around 80-90 the entire way. After this trip im gunna have to do a huge overhaul on the Z, from changing basically every fluid known to man on the damn thing. Ohh well price u gotta pay for going to Z days.

BTW id recommend packin a few red bulls for the drive if you dont have something to keap you occupied, cause im telling you, ive done 12hrs drives straight and man o man, if you dont smoke or anything or have a good music selection...im telling you, your gunna be beating yourself over the head...

god im full of usefull **** today, i got one more thing, bring 2 ways! im going to be bringing 2 i beleive if i can find the other one, so if u dont have one give me a shout on here and ill see if i can dig up another one, this will allow us to talk with each other and keap each other awake and aware of cops and etc on the road if there are any, Also a good way to keap in contact during Z Days during the events and things if we get split up.

yeah, I am getting some two ways also, i should have an extra one should someone need it...and I could not agree more with Ben about the red bull and good music. I am not sure how we are going to go, but I would assume it would be down I-81, not 95 or 85 right? We will have to get the logistics together later, but 81 is great, a true truckers highway, the only time cops will mess with you is you are doing dumb ****. Again, hurry up May.

Juan, do you have your room booked yet? It would be good to know what room availability looks like for the late-comers to this game.

Anyway, here's the roll so far....

1. kcobean
2. arlingtonz
3. jester7500
4. boldenmd
5. willpower
6. gspot35
7. sins4u33
8. valdeztke
9.

And yes, we will definitely be taking I-81. The resort is very close to the Tennessee border so it makes sense to take a south-westerly course. MSN maps reports as 9 hours, 26 minutes from my house, so probably about 9 hours from Springfield. Because of the location, it may not make sense to meet up with our Richmond brother(s) because it's WAY out of their way to try and meet up with us on 81 for the last leg of the drive. There are just quicker routes for them going through NC.

I have a set of the licensed, 5-mile 2-way radios as well, so hopefully we can get a radio in every car on the way down.

If we depart at 4 AM, we get there at around 1PM. That's enough time for check-in, a little chill time if anyone wants it (a nap if anyone is so inclined), and then join the festivities. The reason I personally wanted to leave so early is because the event is basically over on Sunday around noon. So if you don't get there until Friday night, you're effectively missing about 25% of the event.

Anyway, gonna be a good time. If you're putting your car in the show or attending the BBQ dinner, MAKE SURE you go to the zdayz website (which appears to be down at the moment) and get your registration form turned in!!!

Hmmm. Looks like I should take Thursday off, too, just to make sure I'm well rested. I'll have another 40 minutes or so to drive from Upper Marlboro. When are people thinking they'll head back home? I have a set of Motorolas but I don't think they're 5-mile, maybe 3.

A half-day Thursday was exactly my plan as well. Regarding the drive home, the event officially ends at noon, so the drive home would put you back in MD by around 11:00 PM or so (taking stops into account). However, from 9:00 AM to NOON is labeled as "free time" for driving, picture taking, etc, so if people want to get a little earlier start, we can always take off early.

Any 2-ways are good. Ideally, with the way we drive, 5 car lenghts is good enough, nevermind 5 miles!
