Default Tail of the Dragon - Official mid-A Caravan Thread

Hey all,
I wanted to start this as an official tracking thread for people who are interested in going to the ZDayZ event at Tail of the Dragon. For those who need more informaition, you can visit the official ZDayZ Website , or there is a thread Here that is started by the event sponsors.

The "Inn Rooms" are normally $79/night, but the event organizers have secured a 20% discount that would make the rooms like $49/night. If you stay for the full event, you'll need a two night stay.

If you are really intested in going, or have already booked a room, post up here. If money is tight, but you still wanna go, maybe we can work out some room-sharing. Figure you really only need a place to crash for a couple of hours at night and leave your stuff. Other than that, you probably won't spend much time in your room.

We'll plan on Caravaning down, starting somewhere in either Springfield or Tysons early on Friday morning.

If you enter the car show, it's $40 for entry and a T-shirt. There are two classes, 350Z stock and 350Z modified. There are even G35 stock and modified classes this year!

This should be a really fun time, so I hope we can get a decent group together to head down and have a great time driving and checkin' out the cars.

I haven't put money down, but I plan on attending. I would like to caravan down there, it would be fun, I am in for the caravan down, I assume I will stay all weekend too.

Should we contact the hotel ourselves, and will they honor the discount, or are we going through a member here? I have heard about this from a lot of friend (not just Z'ers and they say the road is amazing and a lot of fun). May will not get here soon enough.

I just called them and booked my room. Their number is 800-849-2258 or 828-498-2211 (website is http://www.fontanavillage.com). Mention the ZDayz event to receive the discounted rate. The "Inn Room" is only $49/night after discount, but they have some nicer rooms if you think you'll want it.

Hope you guys can go. This is gonna be a really good time!

BTW, when you call, you'll need to give them a CC number, but they don't require any actual payment until the actual event.

Ok, I'm all set. I've booked my room and filled out my pre-registration form for the car show. Pre-registration is only $40 and gets you entrance to the BBQ dinner for show attendees, a T-shirt, and your entrance fee. If you wait until the actual show, registration is $48.

They haven't posted an event schedule yet, but I'm guessing we'll want to be there for check-in on Friday, and kinda go from there.

This one's pretty new, Toby. I started this one for people who are actually going so we can stay in touch and make arrangements to meet up and head down there. Probably not too long of a drive for you Richmond guys.

This is such an affordable weekend that I hope alot of people decide to go. $100 for your room (for 2 nights!), $40 to enter the car show, and you get a whole weekend of driving and hangin' out with all generations of Z's. There are all kinds of seminars I believe, like how to photograph your car, and proper detailing. Its gonna be a GOOOOOOD time.

FYI... there is a page on the ZDayZ forum for coordinating caravans. You can find regional links here...

Hey Drew! How's things?

I would book your room as quickly as possible. Since this is such a well attended event, I'm guessing that the resort will fill up quickly. Like I said earlier, all they need is a CC # to hold the room, but there's not an actual charge until the event, and if you want, you can put the room on a different card than the one you use to make the reservation.

If anyone needs a place to crash and can't get a room, my wife and son aren't coming with me for the weekend, and there's an extra bed in my room. Like I said, it's really just a place to dump your stuff and maybe sleep a few hours. Just in case someone needs it, it's available.

I am calling the hotel resort today, I have a question about the carshow/bar-b-que, is it 40 each day? is that 40 only is you enter your car? I don't feel like "showing" my car, but I want to be able to see other cars and maybe enjoy the bar-b-que. I was unclear about that and could use some clearing up. THanks in advance.

Hey Brett,
I asked Andy about this, and he said that when you fill out the form, leave the car section blank, fill out the dinner and T-shirt sections as desired, and the form should do the math for you to calculate those costs. There is no requirement that you must show your car to attend the dinner. This is a one time fee, not a daily fee. (The show and the dinner only occur on one of the days, but you can wear the T-shirt as many times as you like )

Hope this clears it up.

Kelly,
Thanks I appreciate the clarity on the matter.

I just reserved my room, and I think I got one of the last ones, so if anybody wants the cheap $49 a night room, you might want to get on it soon.

May won't get here soon enough...

Me neither! Once I saw the map of the Dragon, I was 99% sure I was going. I wanted to post the map here in this thread to get everyone's juices flowing, but i guess that function is still inactive.
