Last week I attended the NoVa Mustang meet with my friend, and I must say these dudes were seriously on the ball. They had an agenda, recapped last meet, intro'd new members and what they did for a living, and talked about upcoming track meets and stuff. They even talked about posting and forum issues.

Either way, I'd be down.

Yep, that's the way the DC Mazda Club is as well (at least that's the way it was when I was a member quite a few years ago). It wasn't just a bunch of guys who got together whenever to talk cars. When your members are paying an annual membership due, they should expect some amount of organization. I really liked it. At the Mazda club, we did an event at Summit Point, we had monthly meets, we had tech sessions at Rosenthal Mazda, etc. I think it would be really cool to get something like that started for the Z's and G's in the area. I believe there are enough enthusiasts here in the area to reach the 'critical mass' required for a club to actually grow roots.

Update:

The calendar at www.capital350zclub.com has been updated to include Hot Import Nights, Tail of the Dragon, the Falls Church HS Auto show, and this weekends events, the first National G Club meeting in Rockville and the NOPI XBOX Challenge at VMP near Richmond. There have been some significant changes to the site, so check it out when you have a chance....And say HI!

I agree, the site does look great. I also agree that the club should organize some track sessions at Summit Point or VIR, possibly lift days (at a local dealer or maybe altered), maybe have a weekly happy hour event, etc. Some of this may require dues to be paid, but if there is a high enough level of organization and participation I think people would pay up.

Yeah we should do an "Install Day". Juan, you mentioned a local military base where you can rent out lifts and power tools, which one was that??

If I remember correctly (from my military days), you have to be a member of the military to use these facilities. I replaced the clutch in my RX-7 at one of these shops and saved myslelf a bundle, but I don't know if civilians get the privilege.

Well to get on post you have to have a current driver liscence, vehicle registration ( not copy ), proof of insurance, for a day pass.

As far as using the lifts they are 4.50 an hour and you can use the air tools that are there as well. I talked to the guy this morning and he said as long as one person had a military ID we could rent the lift(s).

I dont think they would let us roll in with 40 cars or anything but if we wanted to gather up a few of us for some simple mods we could def do that.
Let me know if anyone is interested and I will get more details.
