Any meets in DC
Hi,
From UK and visiting Washington DC on the 17-22 for hols.
Do you have any meets in the DC Area as would like to see what the US do with their Z's
Also any recommendation of what to see and do in DC would be good to know.
In the Seattle area the week after therefore advise for that area would good also.

Hey Steve, welcome to D.C. I don't know of any meets going on at that time, but you never know around here. Sometimes they spontaneously occur. Anyway things to do in D.C...Well to be honest there is so much to do touristy wise that you could be here for a month and not see it all. I would suggest going down to the National Mall and visiting some of the Smithsonian Museusms. The Air and Space Museum is the most visited museum in the world. I would also definitely recommed a trip to Arlington National Cemetary. The best way to see a lot of stuff in a very short period of time is to take the tourmobile (www.tourmobile.com) it's about $20 for all day and it takes you to just about everywhere. The tour is also narrated. Hope you have fun! and bring some good walking shoes.
Gents,
Thanks for this great info and if there is a meet would be great to see you all.
Is the Spy museum any good. staying in town near Whitehouse so will do a lot of walking.
Is it general thought safe to walk around DC, as have I done in many US cities, so do not worry about American streets but general English people seem uncomfortable outside UK, you do not want to go to certain parts of London.
(done some traveling, but because in late 30's and mostly with American based company trips, but no money now as 350Z cost over 50k dollars in the UK)
Is there good comedy clubs in DC or local basketball.
Regards
Steve

As far as venturing out on the streets...the area you're going to be in is fairly safe. Unless you're really up for a hike it's unlikely you'll end up in any "bad" areas.
The spy museum I've heard is pretty cool, although it's not free like all of the Smithsonian Museums.
I'm not sure if the Wizards are playing at home that weekend. I'm not really up on my D.C. basketball, but you can find info at www.nba.com/wizards.

Steve, just remember to bring your gun because most of us yanks are a little trigger happy...
Just kidding man, you'll be fine! The spy museum is great fun, check it out. I believe the Washington Monument has finally re-opened. The Holocost museum is certainly worth a look also. Georgetown reminds me of many places in London, go there for a drink/dinner or something. Never been to Seattle. While our Metro will get you places, I think it would be easier to take cab around.
This would be a perfect excuse for a meet, but I'll be out of town. Great Falls would be an easy drive and close to DC if someone wanted to fetch Steve up.
