Default Stock radio removal help

OK guys .. I've searched the boards and am not getting anything with pictures that are still live links. I am replacing my stock stereo for another stock stereo.. Mine stopped playing CD's. Anyone know where I can find some nice pictures/ instructions on how to remove it without destroying my center console?

Thanks in advance!

PM rich150001. He replaced his factory head unit with an aftermarket one himself, so he might be able to help you out. He lives near Springfield...I think

do you have the factory manual for the z. if yu do have it go to the section that says instrument panel and its under navi on there. if you dont have it PM me your email address and i can try and email you the diagram.

from the looks of it theres a little slot in the center of where the buttons for your nav are. slide a screw driver into there and make a small gap on either the left or right side of the button console. slide another screw driver into the gap and it should pop. i think that should give you access to those two screws in the diagram under than link. (the diagram is a lot more clear than my explination im sure!)

WEllllllll... interesting story....

Took my stereo out ... looks like those with factory navigation have quite a few more wires to disconnect... as well as pry up the Navigation keys

But I got it out... and .. prepared to plug in the replacement factory radio I got from Alain... and .. DOH! .. it does not fit! ... not one harness lined up...

so... in a severly defeated state.. I plugged my head unit back in.. reconnected everything else.. and buttened it all up. When I plugged the old 6 disc radio back in .. it made a bunch of mechanical noises.. did not think to much of it.

While I was checking to make sure that all my gauges and AC/Heat worked ... I decided to try to load a CD.. what the heck I thought.. maybe this time it wont spit it out. Loe and behold... it played! I have CD back in my car! yea! go me.

Moral of the story.... If your Factory Bose CD player stops playing CDs.. either go thru the effort of removing it and plugging it back in .. and see if it works.. .. or .. maybe you could just disconnect the battery of the car and achieve the same thing ....

Thanks for your help guys .. I would never have figured out how to remove the console w/out breaking something w/out you!
