Alright guys, I just got a PM from Pat...Here's the scoop....

The shop that did his plenum has agreed to do these for $225 each if we can get 5 or more, so it looks like we might be there already. It would be great to move on this, so if you're seriously interested in this great price, let me know via PM and we'll set things up. There's none of that core-charge nonsense, so this is a "you send it, they'll polish it" deal.

The shop is up in PA, so not local. Yes, since there is no "core charge" procedure, you have to send them your plenum. I'm going to ask around some of the guys that have aftermarket plenums, and see if we can't borrow their stock plenum that people in the GB can use as a "floater" while theirs is up getting polished. Sound ok? I honestly don't think we'll have a problem getting this done. Push comes to shove, people can use my plenum while theirs is being polished, and I'll send mine up last. I know at least one other person that's interested doesn't daily drive their Z either, so we'll work it out for anyone who's interested. Sound ok?

You wouldn't want it plated until it is smooth and that is what takes so much time and effort.

FYI: Just to throw this out there: Another member here said they can get our plenums polished for $195 each for 6 or more.

10secapsttz's posts are being deleted because he is a shop owner who has continually tried to "sell" things on this forum without becoming a sponsor, even though he's been made aware of the requirement to do so. It's just a policy of this site, that I'm charged with upholding as a moderator. I want us all to get the best deal we can, but I'm not going to do it under-handedly to save a few bucks.

Hmmn. I understand the whole sponsor policy thing but its a little odd that you can give this business to some unknown shop but not to someone that has contributed to this forum for a long time.

Also, I want to be clear that I have no affiliation with 10secapsttz whatsoever. Not in the past and not now. But if he has a better price and can offer the service I dont see why we shouldnt do it.

Is there a site sponsor offering this service at a decent price? If so lets use them if not there should be no issue here. Is the other shop a sponsor?

The policy is that for a company to actively promote or sell a "product" on this site, they must be a sponsor. What I'm arranging is a "service" with a local company and no products are changing hands. You are not "buying" a plenum, you are sending yours in to be polished and you will get yours back. There are sponsors that sell polished plenums, but that's not what I want to do. The company in PA comes highly recommended by another member here, and that's good enough for me.

I can't "undo" the fact that you know of 10secapsttz's offering, so if you'd like, you're welcome to contact him privately, I just want it to be clear that I'm staying within the guidelines of the site by doing what I'm doing. Your participation is entirely up to you.
