Default Maryland/Virginia tax, title, registration costs?

Hey guys...looking to get a new Z. Either an '05 Enthusiast, or '06 Enthusiast. Anyone know the MD and/or VA tax, title, and registration amounts? Just want to know so I can get a estimate of my OTD price and make sure the dealer isn't ripping me off.

This applies to MD, title and registration should be around $150-200, tax is 5% of the car sale price. Thumb rule for haggling is always work with the sale price, not the OTD price.

Tax is the same as sales tax. To get an out-the-door estimate, use the calculator at CarMax.com.

No sales tax on car purchases in Va. Titling tax is 3% currently. There is a bill in the state legislature to raise it to 4%.

really??? Didn't know that. haha..well i guess that offsets the annual car tax you have to pay! How does it work if someone lives in MD and bought the car in VA? Do you still not pay the sales tax since it was a VA purchase?

If you live in MD and buy a car in VA, you end up paying the sales tax once you register in MD. You can't escape IRS/tax unless you live in Oregon, I think.

I almost bought a ZR in MD 2 weeks ago. The processing fee is only $100 in MD while almost $300 in VA. But, title and registration together was only ~$150 since I'll register in VA, oh and the sales tax was 3%.
