Thanks! Wifey said if I make it I can get a body kit! I have witnesses! Im thinking full Nismo Not straightaway to O-1 you need to go through some type of commissioning program ie. OCS USNA ROTC etc, and I dropped out of high school and got my GED in boot and I just made E-6 in 6 so nope for the E-5 thing either.

Well, having a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is a prereq for commission in the US Armed Forces. (I am referring to the non-LDO route) But there are other requirements, such as being a US citizen and in good health...etc

Great Job GM1! I have a Master Chief at my command who made it in 16.
Stay motivated and get involved in the 1st Class Mess...

In a few years, you may be finding yourself going through Chief's initiation.

My wife made HM2, I don't get to take the 1st Class test until Mar07. Pretty fast for an HM she has only been in for 3.5 years. Getting out for a few years killed my advancement time frame LOL

Congrats to all... When is the Wet Down?

Congrats to all that advanced. When do you get 'em tacked on? (As I'm rubbing my upper arm in fond, but somewhat pained memory, lol)

Congratulations.

Quick question if you dont mind. What exactly can a college degree do for you in the military? What I mean is I will be done next may with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and am thinking military, but I want to fly helicopters and then later on be an aerospace engineer. Would I enter as an officer trainee or regular enlisted, and does anyone know what it takes to become a Helo pilot education wise? Ive looked into it but they are kind of vague about the procedure and requirements, and well I dont want to sit down with a recruiter just yet.
Not tryin to steal your thread, but I figured it would be a good place to ask.

Thanks,
Chuck

3.5 years is pretty good yes! Esp for an HM. You guys are pretty tight most of the time. My wife didnt make HM3 though was hoping for some more money for this house were tryin to get. This weekend I think. G has duty today, so maybe tomorrow night? Ill be at Busch Gardens if its not raining if anyone wants to come along. Im on leave until Jul 5(PCS) so I dont get frocked until after that, I will be getting paid in July though made 1st incr!
-No prob, always willing to help out Well it can do alot. Mech Eng is a perfect degree to have for what you want. You will have to go though a comissioning program like OCS. Btw my dad works for Boeing as a "composite structural engineer" and most of the guys he works with used to be Navy/Air Force flyers. If im not mistaken there are recruiters just for officers? Ill let one of the officers on here tell more about it as I am not too sure about service schools for flight duty etc.
