Seriously though, the noobs never bothered me. I believe its the massive amount of trolls that are ruining this board.
This site is experiencing two different issues right now, IMO. The first is that the number of members is HUGE and growing. MANY of the senior members seldom participate in Z related threads anymore. This is more of a social hang-out for them because when it comes to questions about the Z, they have been there, done that and feel that most questions are 'searchable' and don't deserve a reply. They know that there is a huge database of information available via the search engine and they know how to use it. They get tired of answering the same questions over and over again. It's understandable.
The second issue is that the "new member" crowd is changing. With the Z a few years old now, and the market flooded with sub-$20K cars, the crowd is getting younger. You know what that means...it means questions like "what exhaust is best". Many of these members don't know much about cars in genereal, let alone anything aftermarket.
The admins don't expect all of us who have been here for years to answer every repetitive question with "Gee, I would LOVE to tell you which exhaust is best." What they expect is for the veteran members to "nudge" the new members into helping themselves. That helps keep attitudes from flaring on both sides, new members slowly graduate into old members, and old members have the satisfaction of effectively saying "use the f@!%$^ing search!", without actually saying it. If new members choose to get an attitude anyway, the report post function is your friend. The staff is going to deal swiftly with people who come here to start trouble, but to be fair about it, we have to deal with veteran members who participate in flame wars in the same manner. That said, we ask all of you guys to help set the example that a) this is first and foremost a Z enthusiast website, and b) the existing members may not spoon feed new members the same answers over and over again, but we are willing to point them in the right direction. If you can't/don't want to do that, then "the big middle finger of silence" is the best thing to do. The Braveheart/Alpha stuff has to stop, because while it was funny at first, it's really doing a number on how this board is perceived elsewhere. I've read multiple threads on other forums where people came here, asked a question, got ganged up on, and never came back. They now frequent other sites. We all asked some repetitive questions in the beginning, we have to get people past that phase without pissing them off or alienating them. If we alienate them, then they get attitudes, and the vicious cycle begins. If they're just a lost cause from the word go, one of two things will happen: Eventually they'll flame someone and get 'staff attention', or they'll just disappear because people won't play with them.
Sorry for the LOONNG rant. I hope you guys will help.

Thats your first warning Kelly, do it again and you'll get a 3-day (temporary) ban so that you can step away and cool down a bit.
