And no snails in the bay...this one has all the power I want without any of the headaches...490 ft-lbs of torque does it for me.

That's the best year for viper, IMHO. You should keep it for as long as possible, since I believe it has the chops to become a good collector car.

Congrats!!! You dirty dogg you!!! There's a COL at work who has one and when I see him park in the corner by himself, I always park next to him but my car doesn't have the same presence. I hate to say it, but it sorta looks like a kit car next to a Viper Have fun with it!!!

Wow, congrats, this is not the first time someone has left their Z and gone with a Viper, bluebatmobile did a few months ago. I have a feeling its not the last time we'll see this either.

 

LOL...Honestly, my Z has more power at the wheels than the Viper. And I know that my Z could beat my stock Viper down the 1/4 mile (in the right hands). The beauty of the Viper is that the full 490 ft-lbs of torque are available at just 3500 RPM so it's a whole different driving experience. The Viper has so much torque that they put in a "skip-shift" feature that will lock out 2nd and 3rd gears during 1/4 throttle acceleration and dump you from 1st right into 4th (it's an attempt to improve economy, and it's easily disabled (I already have the wire harness to shut this off)). As the old saying goes....there's no replacement for displacement.

As for smart-*** remark, I have none. The Evo is a great car....and you look right at home in your 4-door shoebox.

 

I see Andy frequently over on the Viper club forums. He makes the overlays for the Viper as well. At one time, he was contemplating selling his Viper for an NSX, but he ever went through with it.

 

Ha, that's cute. She's actually scared to drive the Evo hard. She says it's too fast for her and she doesn't want to be the first person to **** it up. My best was actually a 1.8x though. I'm launching it MUCH better now with my boost controller on. When I put in my boost guage it was reading like ~3psi off the line; now it's up to ~7. And when I get my flash it'll be in the teens.

Kelly, I would LOVE to have that much TQ that low in the powerband. Hopefully you're able to get on it some today seeing as how God is smilin' sunshine on us.

And it's a damn fast shoebox.
