I have a set of 17" Michelin Pilot Sport A/S that I can't use. They have about 3000 miles on them. They are down in NC at my parents house, but I could get them up here if you are interested. Asking $300 for them.

Thanks, how are the blizzaks the rest of the time on dry roads? In this area we really only get what 8-10 really bad days a year and the roads are treated fairly quickly. I would plan on putting them on @ Thanksgiving and running them till March.
Just starting to wonder if its worth the hassle of now changing tires twice a year given the area we live in.

question: what's a really bad winter tire? reason I ask -- since our cars are rear-wheel & all, is it really worth getting a "winter" set of tires? I ran the Pilots on my stocks last year and they were fine, I guess. biggest reason I would switch my setup would be to not run my rims in snow & salt and all...
anyway...
anyway...

Id personally recomend a beater car.. they can be had for $500 ~ $1000.. with minor issues that you can easly fix yourself. All the chemicals they use on the roads here are hell on your wheels, and paint.

I would buy a set of winter tires on cheap rims and switch out if I lived in a Snowy state. VA winters just arent that bad, even in the mountains. (WV Winters are the same) so a good all season tire is your cheapest bet. (Having 2 sets is the best though)

We've got some very affordable 18" wheels (18x8.5/18x9.5) on hand...it might be an good alternative to throwing snows on your stock wheels.
