Default UTEC or E-manage Ultimate

I have a 2004 Z with the ATI procharger kit installed. To acomodate the fuel needs and give me the potential to change from the 7 psi pulley to the 9 psi pulley, over the winter I'm upgrading to 440 cc injectors and also, an engine management system to handle fuel and timing issues. Everyone recommends the UTEC but that is $1000 for the system alone, not including installation and tuning. I talked to others or said the greddy e-manage ultimate should be enough to handle fuel and timing , and costs only $500, plus installation and tuning. What do you guys think, which system would you rather go with, and if you didn't want to spend $2000 to have your car tuned, would you accept the emanage ultimate?

$1000 is what you'll pay if you just click on some random web site and buy it straight up. I'm not going to name names, but i JUST bought (and have it sitting here next to me) the UTEC, map switch, and map sensor from a vendor on these boards for $790 shipped with a Twin Turbo base map included. Then, i found someone selling the Tuner Pro-Bosch (The UTEC's side kick) for $260 shipped and picked that up as well. So.. For nearly a grand, i have one of the best EMS's you could possibly have. Do some asking around and you'll find WAY better deals than you'll see online. You don't know how hard it is for me to chime in on people's sale threads selling used UTEC's alone (no extras) for more than i paid for my new one shipped. Damn shame.

One of the things I really like about the Utec is the optional switch for 5 selectable maps.

Is the UTEC something you can start off with for you're tuning needs as a newb? I hear the E-manage is more user friendly but, I don't know to much on them nor do I know much about tuning.

I'm kind of in the dark on these two things as well.

Just my $0.02

No EM is good for newbs, you need serious knowledge to tune your car-especially if it's FI.

so, can anyone get me a UTEC for less than $1000 or know where I can find one that is a good price? I would like to have a UTEC but since I'm a college student, I'll have to go with the e-manage ultimate if the price is much better and it makes the car safe at 7 psi and possibly 9 psi.

Check out tuning factory they have some very good prices. Mine was well under 1k. Plus they are a sponser here. You will get it with the most recent updates 2.7 I believe.
