Default RWD Winter Car

What is a good RWD winter car on the snow?

I'm looking to get another car, but didn't want a FWD. Also, my wife will probally be driving it more than me so I don't want something so un-refined and stiff like the EVO or STi.

I like the Lexus IS300 and 350.

I've seen huge trucks slide of the road, plus I'm looking for something in the price range of 30K-.

What do you guys think of the TL. That is one FWD car I might go for, if I can't find a better all season RWD.

I have a friend that has a TL. They're great cars, and handle very well.

I don't like the new body of the type-s, the a-spec is hot to death though.

I would love to get a FWD STi or EVO, but this car is for my wife and I don't want her to drive such a tuner car. Basically, something with class.

+1 - it's the best mid-priced street car out there, period. You should be able to find a 06 Legacy GT with enough options for ~26K... lots of usable torque, 250hp, no turbo lag, better AWD system than the WRX, and very civil on the street.

+2 on the subie. RWD and winter just don't mix. Trust me, I got caught in the snow storm last night coming back late from work and needless to say, drifting is no fun at 15mph on snow covered streets...

You can pick up a brand new 06 Saab 9-2X Aero fully loaded for under $30K. Its basically a Subaru Legacy GT but with a Saab name tag.

I love the audi look, especially the camber set up. But I don't trust euro cars, expensive name= expensive parts and service. I like to work on my own cars, nothing big, but something that keeps me busy and knowledgeable with the cars.

I'm biased to be sure, but check out the 07 G35x. 306hp RWD most of the time, AWD when you need it. I drive 50 miles r/t every day and even in the snow and ice that has driven lesser cars spun out all over 7100, this car handles like a champ.
