i postponed my court date once...from march 19...all the way to june 18...however they told me i could only postpone it once. I'm pretty sure there is a way to keep postponing it. I said i had school as my first excuse. I am tryin to postpone this case as much as i can.

LOL! I did go to Iraq after getting a 95 in a 55 on I66..I was being run down by a drunk driver...but the cop wasnt hearing me....anyways...worked out for me.

what was your ticket for...? over 80 or over 90?

 

To the OP, why are you avoiding the inevitable? It's not going to look any better if the judge sees that you're purposely trying to avoid a court date.
Do you seriously think you're going to get a slap on the wrist for this if you keep postponing the court date?

You're going to have a huge fine and possible jail time (depending on how competent your lawyer is). Your driving privileges will be suspended, at the very least, 90 days.

Oh and the part where you say "no ticket..just a paper saying i need to go to court." You're kidding right? That piece of paper he gave WAS your ticket.

 

Move to another state and never go back....

 

They'll allow you one, maybe two postponents.

I would expect the worse and plan your schedule around June 18th.

 

I would go to driver improvement...borrow someone 20" inchers..air them puppies up to about 55psi..take it to a shop (fairfax next to the harely davidson dealership..just up the hill on the left, noterized 50 bucks) get the speedo checked. It will be about 8-9 mph off at that speed with the set up mentioned above.

Then I would go to court, with a lawyer, with the documentation..try to settle with the prosecutor, not the judge....if you can take a 6 month supended vs jail...do that...but you wont get restricted, which no driving anytime for 6 months. I would take a day or two in jail with a 30 day suspension if that is an option. Worst case, in VA it is a day in jail for every mile over 90mph...they usually suspend half..wich leaves 5 days...but think about it..if your speedo is off...then you get it down to 92-93 mph...If your seedo is off my 8 or 9...100 minus that is 92-93 in a 55, that only leaves a day or so in jail..then half suspended...you might not go....if so, its a day of your life..you will live, most importantly you will learn....trust me....I got a 115 in a 55 in Va beach and went straight to jail on my bike because everyone else ran and almost killed themselves trying get away, I wouldnt rat them out so I was jailed for a few hours...It was like, I screwed up....man up, pay the PIPER.

Time to face things head on and get on with your life...I hated waking up with that feeling in my stomach because I had a court date.

My car is in the shop...but I have 285, 35/20...you really need to borrow 275,35/20..they are taller which throws off the speedo a bit more...trust me....I know.

If I were you..I would do the above and go to court in June..at least its summer. We all make mistakes...just explain that to your lawyer and the judge/prosecutor. Are you in FF County or Louden County for the ticket....I hear Louden is a bit better....but it realy doesnt matter.

Although I volunteeeeeered to go to Baghdada....the pay was much more than what Bush makes..I still got a 100 file and 3 months suspension..however I couldnt come back until 6 months anyways..lol.

Damm I miss those Baghdad paychecks...could of used one of them for tax day..FF stuck it to me again this year. Seems I am always paying now days...

actually...we were 3 cars that got pulled over...coming from west virginia.. i dont think the speedo would work as i was paced... my friends who got paced at 90 both...one got wreckless and a 150 dollar ticket... 110 court fee...and they gona let maryland decide wat to do..the other person was less cuz she was just following the person in front so she didnt get wreckless..she got something else..the whole time i was in the back following them as well..the cop must have been wathcing for a while or something..it was pitch black that night..until i decide to pass my friends...to get in the front...cuz i needed to lead the way home..maybe the cop says i was following as well and understands i needed to get in the front...cuz i was following 90% of the time where that last minute i had to blow 105 to pass someone goin 90...thats why he gave me 100...but i dont know... they had there court april 15..after getting it postponed

i went it person with a letter saying i had school...got me 2 more months.. hey .. maybe he might forget about me :-D

 

uh ... 19 year old kid driving a sports car going 105 mph. Unless the cop smokes weed daily, he's not going to forget.

 

The speedo WILL work if you go get it checked and the reading's off.

Those checks were pretty damn sweet though.

I remember I got a ticket for "street racing" like a week before I left to Iraq (I actually did a burnout, but the cop was a 'tard). I had to go to court after I got back. I couldn't believe they still came after me for that **** (I couldn't PCS from Ft. Riley until it was cleared).

 

Hire a good traffic lawyer! Are you trying to postpone your court date so the cop won't show up? Your best bet is to hire a lawyer!!!

 

the lawyer i got is 1100..is that good amount..i mean if he's that much..he gotta be good..but then again i dont know...i dont know "good" lawyers like that..anyways..i got a lawyer for both of my cases..just got to wait and see...been saving up a rackkkkkkk load of money to see how much im gona lose :-( it's been holdin me back on accessories

Get the speedo checked...I am quite sure it will be off with a set of 275/35/20's....start using your online resources to build a case. The best way to reduce the fine is to reduce the speed....

The speedo check trick is not to dispute at what speed the cop paced you but for the prosecutor to believe you were mislead by your speedo reading. You will be able to say, I thought I was going 92mph. Well prosecutors are not born yesterday but they have to give you the benefit of the doubt. Good luck.
