What was the outcome of all the tickets?

Okay well Im just gonna let you know what I got for 83 in a 50 as a 17 year old.

1. Driver Improvement Classes
2. Suspension for 90 days
3. $500 fine

This was with no lawyer and in FFC with Valentine as my judge....(worst. judge. ever.) Anyway I wouldnt expect any less than 3 month suspension, the classes, and a BIG fine. Oh and dont forget to throw in those additional fees that become mandatory July 1st. Bad choice in postponing your court date.

 

I have 20's that you could use man, however I just put 285,30,20 which are smaller than the 275,35,20 that I recommended. You can slap them on, inflate to about 45psi and hope for the best. The place to get it checked is right up the hill from the Harley Davidson Dealer on Route 29/50 in FF. Wife and I are out for this weekend. Maybe Sunday night you can come over and swap them out, get it checked on Monday and come back Monday night? The cost is $50 to get it calibrated.

You wont get the fines, because your violation occured prior to the new law, you are not grandfathered into all the penalty's. Even when you get the fine, it will reflect from the day you were originally charged if I am not mistaken.

PM me and I will send you my number. I would start a new post and ask for some 275/35/20's to borrow for a day...someboby is running them, getting them to let you use them is anothe story. Most arent as friendly as I.

I was popped doing 80 in a 55 then got it down to 78 in a 55....no reckless...just points. Then my stupid self got a 83 is 55 like 3 months later (3rd month I owned the car) and got 80 in a 55 with Reckless because I had just got a ticket. I got 30 suspention with restricted, to drive to work and back. That was over a year ago now. I have since learned where my cruise control is.

I also had a lawyer $550

 

Might be worth it to buy a set of 275,35,20....cost is about $400 but that is cheaper than a lawyer....let me know what you want to do.

 

You just need to man up. The more you wiggle, the deeper the hook will set. I got caught doing 105 on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and I went to court in my dress uniform, judge slammed me with 16 days, called me stupid too. No fine, court costs, or suspension. Worst leave I have ever spent! I did have to pay $16 for "Room & Board" though I dont really speed anymore. Wastes gas.

 

get a lawyer and it will really differ from county to county i know fairfax county will nail you on the smallest thing and the judges are just as strict. the best bet would be to get a lawyer and take the driver improvement class before your court date to knock some points off your record. Also the judge will be alot tougher on you depending on your age as far as the cop writing own 100 as your speed and not arresting you on the spot consider yourself lucky.

 

my ticket was in farquier county, i dont know how strict they are...i got a lawyer...i was looking up driving improvement classes but i need an answer...if i take a driving improvement class in virginia and i live in maryland...doesn't it not do anything. I was reading about the 5 safety points if you take it voluntarily but only applies to VA licenses

if driving improvment classes does help me..then i will take it..any locations near gaithersburg, MD?

 

You face jail time for BOTH states. You would need to take a driver improvement class for BOTH ... why do I even bother.

 

Dude, you should have bigger things to worry about than trying 20s on your car. Get your priorities straight.

If I were to give advice, I'd say take few enemas in preparation for the gray bar hotel and your meeting with Bubba the Cucumber of Love.

i jus talked to my best friend whos a cop in VA... near charlottesville... so not in same area, so he wont know your judge.. but he said his judge gets pissed as **** when he sees someone delaying their court date multiple times, especially when they either have previous tickets for the same offense (ie other speeding tickets)... then he gives them the worst sentence allowed

so.. i say, listen to the guys ^^... and get lots of lube ready to ease the process

 

i have not postponed them on purpose...i've been waiting for my virginia court case for a while...i wanted it to be my first court case so it be my first offense rather than my second cuz then i might def get a harsher fine...i only postponed it once since it was on a day i had school in march....i was suppose to have it june 18 but i messed up on one of the papers or something and my lawyer postponed it for me again, if not they cud not have represented me

and #2 u can't go to jail for speeding in maryland..its not a criminal offense..it's a traffic violation..especially since the cop didnt give me wreckless and gave me a warning for negligent driving..so its just a 107mph speedin ticket

just got to wait and find out

 

I thought you could go to jail in MD if its double the speed limit... well almost. Was it on 270?

yea maybe i did say i was going to postpone it as much as i can...but that was bak in the day....both my court dates were postponed only once by me...and the 2nd time in Va was cuz of my lawyer and me not showing up to my MD case one was what my lawyer told me to do

my bestfriends mom works for the fbi in DC..i told her yesterday and she said she was going to check if i had a bench warrant cuz she said she could look it up...and i don't..so no..they didnt send a bench warrant for me..my lawyer did it for a reason so im just gona follow what he says

gives me more time to save up cuz it gona hit hard and i know it is...but until then..ima enjoy the ride before i get my license suspended

but its all one big lesson learned..im not tryin to argue anyone..ima handle my own business..thanks for the advice though
