Default I hate being Zless... =(

Well... I got rid of my Z a few months ago and got a brand new Vdub GTI. I like the car so far, its pretty quick and the 6mt is smoother then on any other car I've driven; smooth powerband, no turbo lag; great handling and very nice interior. It is roomy and has a rear seat. I like the car BUT IT IS NOT A Z!!!

I got rid of the Z due to a bunch of problems with it: I was on my third tranny and it was grinding going into 4th and 5th, the rear axles were clicking AGAIN, my passenger side window motor broke for the 3rd time, the car rattled, the seats were worn out. I only had 58k miles on it, but the car felt OLD. I loved the power and I loved the sound..I had a few mods on it and it was pretty quick in a 1/4 (13.6 my best run, I didn't track it much, so I'm sure with more track experience I could've done better). The car was out of warranty and I was in a pretty bad financial situation for a few months after loosing my business, barely affording the payments and definately not being able to afford to fix all the problems it had, so I just went out and bought a new GTI.... But I can't forget the Z... I miss it and I want it back...

So.. I decided to save up some money for a decent downpayment.. and trade my GTI in for a new 07 Z... You think it's a good idea, or not? I just can't drive this thing anymore... I don't feel it, but on the other hand I think if I do the trade, I'd just waste alot of money... I don't know what to do... help??

I think I got the only 03 that never had feathering, window grease, window failure, grinding tranny, etc etc...The only thing actually wrong with my Z is the damn leaking rear window fluid!

Sounds like you enjoy getting *** raped by dealers? Financially you shouldn't do it, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Artem nice to hear from you. Id just keep the GTI, they are fun little cars, and have GREAT interiors. Look into doing a nice 3" TBE, some software (APR, GIAC, REVO) and its easily as fast as your old Z. I know your busy, but you should try to stop by the meet (see other thread) in Columbia this Sunday and catch up...

Keep the GTI man, I was considering going with one of these before trading up my 05 Z with tranny probs, but went with the 06. I haven't had issues aside from the bastard needing bout 1 qt of oil in between oil changes *sigh* lol one prob for another! GTI's are nice, if u trade it in youd be losing like what 5 or 6 grand on a trade in ummmmmmm keep it for a while longer or mod it to kill ur Z bug lol

1 quart of oil between 3000+ miles is normal. Any car with a PCV system and when driven hard will consume oil. Just thought Id let you know in case you thought you had the oil cinsumption issue.

Sorry to get off topic to the OP...but^^^did you fix the leak? If you pop the hatch and look by the center of where the roof and the hatch meet you can see a thin black hose going to the nozzle. Check there for the leak.

To the OP. Getting out of the GTI now will set you in the hole at least a couple grand. The car is not that bad. It has a great interior and is pretty sporty. I would def. look into the cost of a couple mods like GIAC chip and see what Eurosport came out with for it. If your not already on the site already join VWvortex....com

I wouldn't do it, you'll be losing several thousand dollars and a new Z is just a year or two away, I'd wait till then

My rear window squirter drips from the nozzle down the window sometimes when i accelerate hard, is this normal? can I fix it?

wait for the new Z. Don't get the 07. Also, look at the G37. It's A Z but much nicer.

Why not the 07' Z? 07' is the HR Z, TONS of power and NA potential from what it has shown us so far. 07'Z is faster than the 3.7L G, your forgetting weight, not to mention price on new G's is higher...

Lol thanks for the tip man, I was a bit worried though one day it went to the dealer and I was low on oil wtf, and the car only had intake/plenum spacer at the time. I believe the car had roughly about 9000 miles, ever since then I keep an eye on the oil level. I am pretty much done modding until I can get my hands on a FX45. btw the car is redlined rarely, I drive it hard but not ***** to the wall type hard

I agree with everyone else, u will lose money but is it worth it to you? I mean modding a car in general is a poor financial decision but we all do it. You only live once man. Of course i sold my z when i bought my condo b/c i didn't want the car payments but now i'm looking for another so i know what you mean about missing it. Oh and don't look at the g37, i'm not impressed AT ALL with the performance. You could honestly find a nice g35c and run with the g37 performance wise.

yea... I know I'd loose a bunch of money if i trade it in for a Z. At this point I (with your help, ofcourse) convinced myself not to do it and keep the GTI for a year or 2, or more.. Looking into modding it now.

Alberto, so you said i can easily run 13's in the GTI with a few mods? What's the potential of this car? 12's possible? =)) I definately want to make it a little louder with a dual exhaust system, I like the dual look.

Bert, I'll try to make it to the meet on Sunday, I'm off sundays anyways, so it all depends if my wife wants to do anything, or I can just bring her with me if anything...

Thanks for the replies, guys... I think I'll keep this ugly thing for now and have as much fun as possible with it, but I'm definately coming back to the Z worlds in a couple of years
