Question Good beach for relaxing?

Looking for some place within 4-5 hours of northern VA. Been to VA Beach, not bad... OBX is a bit more quiet. Any other good options? I heard Atlantic City is a dump...

VA beach is garbage lol I'll never swim in those waters again!
I was stationed down there while in the Navy and ummmmm

swim elsewherz Ocean City isn't all that much better
but NC or SC has always been the spot for me.

Emerald Isle NC, Atlantic Beach NC, Surf City NC, all very nice places to go if you want nice clean beaches. My wife and I moved down here and bought a house because we fell in love with the area.

bethany beach is very family oriented and pretty boring. you can definitely relax and do nothing there! but you could also drive to ocean city when you get bored at night.

Josh, I grew up over on the Eastern Shore and like Ziablo said, the Delaware beaches are quieter than Ocean City, but you can still go down there at night and actually have some fun.

OBX is MUCH more relaxing than anything nearby from my experience but not within 4-5 hours (well it CAN be but not this time of year). I'm going down there in mid September, the rates go down after labor day but it's still warm.

OBX is pretty much the same as Va Beach but w/o alot of people. Only thing is OBX is a long drive. it's one long straight strip of an island. you could go all the way to the end and hop another ferry to the last island if you really want to get away from it all.
OC and AC are the same. there really isn't much choices on the atlantic coast other than south miami.

I was a ways from there down in Salisbury. It was fun growing up near the beach, I was there from 76 (birth) through 99 (graduated college). I miss it over there.

I lived 2 summers in OC (My parents have lived there the past 8 years). Crazy times. Not sure if I miss it though. There's "lifers" that live there and will probably never leave. They definitely have some mileage on them.

I guess you could say K.I. was the "least" redneck place on the eastern shore. Not like that's saying much.

I went to queen anne's county H.S. with a lot of people from Chestertown. I'm guessing you lived there before you high school years.

Oh ok, I gave Washington College a look because they offered an Engineering program through Univ. of Maryland. But it was too close to home at the time, so I decided to go to Maryland instead.
